Gia sat in front of Mateo's new building, honestly not remembering which apartment he was now in, so waiting outside for them to get off work and walk home. It felt odd to wait for him here, and Gia wasn't entirely a fan of the whole situation in the first place.

Cyan sure was saying a lot of words, and Gia understood most of them, but not really in the way he was saying them. Still, she could probably listen to him ramble on for hours about things she didn't understand. When he turned his attention back onto her, though (sort of), she found she didn't really have a good answer. She folded her hands behind her back, leaning against the van.
"Just visiting, I guess. I was bored. So you're setting up internet for the town . . . with mushrooms?" she asked, honestly not sure how he got from a mushroom conversation with Sissy to wiring the town with internet. It probably made sense in his brain, but she didn't have access to that, unfortunately.

her possessiveness. her fear of losing her friends causes her to cling in unhealthy ways, getting jealous and upset when she thinks they’re pulling away from her, which causes her to lash out

Gia couldn't help but laugh a little at that. "It's not that difficult," she assured Wren. "You just smoke it like a regular cigarette, but you hold in the smoke for a beat before exhaling so it really gets in there." She paused. "Have you ever smoked a regular cigarette?"

Gia honestly thought this whole thing was silly, especially when she found her partner. It wasn't that the man was ugly or anything, he was just much older and had been cutting her hair for a while now, so it was weird.
"Oh, hi Mr. Haversham. Sorry looks like you're paired up with me. I know I'm cute and all, but I doubt I'm your type."

"Holy shit, Sis, you look incredible," Gia said with a grin as she grabbed her friend's hand. She spun her around, trying to ignore how her heart and stomach were flipping and flopping all over each other. "This whole thing is a little silly, but it's fun to dress up and eat free food. We should do the cake walk together and then we'll have two cakes to share."

"Mattie!" Gia grinned as she practically tackled him in a hug. She pulled back to give him a look over. "You look amazing. You haven't been paired up with anyone at this silly thing yet have you? We should dance."
