Almost three decades in, Junya Watanabe has established himself amongst heavyweight Japanese designers with the aid of Comme Des Garçons. He’s managed to create signature pieces that seem to stand the test of time, one of the biggest being the ‘Junya Watanabe x Levi’s Poem Denim.
Debuting in 2001, the simplistic yet iconic jeans are undoubtedly one of the most sought after items tied to Watanabe. They include short evocative poems that aim to poke at the heart along the front or back left pant leg, with the latter being removed of a rear pocket. One of the poems is cited below.
