Well, I didn’t think I’d be posting an actual fic on here, not a tmnt fic anyway. But alas, like most of the people I follow, I too have become hyper fixated on the teenage mutant ninja turtles.
Now, I give you my latest masterpiece
Tw: fear (not too much tho)

Donatello would say that he is a genius, but does that make him smarter than everyone else? Yes, yes it does.
Why does he believe he’s a genius, you may ask? Because he is the only person in the world smart enough to create a device this powerful.
This machine will compress molecules together so tightly that the object, or being it’s tested on, will actually shrink, breaking the square cube law and making him one of the greatest scientists in history!
Although, to prove this, he needed a test subject.
So he did the only reasonable thing.
“MIKEY!” he shouted into the quiet lair, “GET IN HERE!”
After a few seconds of waiting, a familiar orange blur sprinted through the lab doors and stopped in front of Donnie, nearly knocking him backwards.
“You called, dude?” Mikey asked, excited to be allowed in Donnie’s lab.
“I need you to help me test something,”
“Cool! What do I get to do? Am I the lab rat? Am I gonna turn into, like, an extra mutated turtle?” He questioned, stars dancing in his eyes at the thought.
“No, I’m going to be the first person to break the square cube law!” Donnie yelled, giddy to see if this would work, “now just stand right here and don’t. Move.”
Donnie dragged Mikey to the front of a machine, positioning him to be standing straight, hitting the back of Mikey’s shell as he tried slouching again. Normally, Mikey’s behavior would infuriate him to be around, hence why he was not allowed in Donnie’s lab, even when Donnie was inside it. Though today was special, today Donnie would make, or breaking in this case, the discovery of the century.
Firing up the machine, Donnie typed on the controls, putting in the data for this test. His baby was finished warming up quickly after being turned on and the tip lit up his vibrant signature purple color.
Mikey looked uncharacteristically nervous as the machine became ready for use. Laughing anxiously, Mikey yelled over to where Donnie sat.
“Uh, don, just wondering, what’s the square cube law?”
But Donnie was too busy to hear him, still imputing information, so the experiment would run smoothly. As time went on, the machine started whirring, signaling its ready for use.
Suddenly, a bright purple stream of light shot out, heading straight for Mikey. He yelped as he tried to step back, but he wasn’t fast enough to dodge as it hit him right on the plastron. Mikey stumbled and fell back on his shell, head pounding painfully. His eyesight blurred and dark spots clouded his vision. After a few seconds of this, he closed his eyes and gave into unconsciousness.
~~~~~~~~
Donnie smiled as his machine fired at his brother. This would change everything! If his machine really worked, then it could be revolutionary.
Then he heard Mikey fall.
He looked up from the control panel to see an alarming lack of a brother in front of the device.
Oh no.
This wasn’t supposed to happen.
Mikey was supposed to stay in the same spot so Donnie could tell where he was when he shrunk, but now the scientist can’t see him anywhere.
Donnie tried calling out his name, hoping for a response, but he didn’t get one. How is this possible? He should be able to hear Mikey just fine at his new size, but now it’s completely silent. Unless he wasn’t awake to say anything.
This was bad.
He just lost his younger brother, tiny and unconscious, in the large area that is his lab.
Watching his step carefully, Donatello made his way to the door of his lab. He needs to think of a way to find Mikey, hopefully before their other brothers get home from patrol.
Standing in the doorway, Donnie scanned over the floor of his lab, trying to find orange.
Or green,
Or anything that could help him find the location of his younger brother.
It felt like an eternity passed of silently watching the floor when Donnie heard the main door open. His other brothers were home.
Panicking, he stepped inside his lab and closed the door, staying far away from where he last saw Mikey. He heard Leo and Raph call out for him and Mikey, but ignored it for now. They would be a lot more angry with him if they found out he shrunk Mikey and then lost him.
~~~~~~~
Mikey groaned as he tried opening his eyes, immediately closing them when he was met with the ceiling of bright light. Right, he was lying on his back. He should fix that.
His muscles ached as he moved. He feels like he’s forgetting something. Mikey’s eyes take a few seconds to adjust to the bright lighting, but when they do, he panics.
Where is he? Thinking hard about what he could remember, his eyes widened. He was in Donnie’s lab And Donnie’s machine made him pass out! Oh, he is so getting pranked after this.
He walks around, trying to find Donnie. Wait, why does the lab look so weird?
Then he sees it, a bolt on the ground in front of him, one that was the size of his head!
“D..did Donnie make a super-sizer machine or something?” he questioned, “or…”
Then, like an earthquake, the ground shook. Mikey caught himself before he could fall from the vibrations, and it stopped as quickly as it started.
He paused for a few seconds, trying to process everything going through his head at the moment. This isn’t what he thinks it is…right? Before he could come up with something to excuse these weird occurrences, Mikey heard an ear bursting noise. It sounded like a voice, a familiar voice…
LEO!?
It sounded just like Leo, but way, way louder.
So it meant only one thing: Donnie really shrank him! Oh man, what is he gonna do? Ok calm down, he just needs to get Donnie’s attention and he can fix this. Hopefully? It can’t be that hard, right?
“Mikey,” Donatello whispered, “where are you?”
Mikey jumped at the sudden voice, not used to the volume.
“DONNIE! IM OVER HERE!”
He looked around, trying to find anything to get a better view. He still hasn’t seen Donnie yet. How is Donnie supposed to know where he is if Mikey doesn’t even know?
~~~~~~~~
Donnie started searching quieter this time as his other brothers got home, worried that they’d hear the commotion and come running. He silently stalked the lab, trying not to hurt the youngest of the family.
He thought calling out for him once more would help, so he did. It was just a whisper, but at Mikey’s new size, he might as well be talking normally.
All of a sudden, he heard something. If he hadn’t been paying attention, he would have missed it. It sounded like it came from the left, so he started checking there.
Donnie saw nothing out of the ordinary for a bit, but eventually he spotted the smallest hint of orange peeking out from behind one of his unfinished projects. He had nothing orange in the lab. That must be Mikey!
Carefully he lifted the project and reached his hand out, pinching his little brother by his plastron and shell, lifting him up towards his face.
He inspected the smaller turtle for a few seconds, turning him in his hands and checking for any bad side effects. After the initial shock wore off, he realized Mikey looked…scared? Did Donnie do something wrong?
“Mikey?”
As he spoke, the orange clad turtle flinched, looking like he’d retreat into his shell at any moment.
“Are you alright, little brother?”
Mikey flinched again, but this time he seemed to peek up towards Donnie’s face, giving a forced-looking smile, still tense but less so.
“Y-yea, I’m ok dude, you’re huge,”
“R-really big,” Mikey whispered under his breath
~~~~~~~
Mikey kept looking for Donnie, but couldn’t seem to find him anywhere. How do you lose such a gigantic brother!?
He was about to walk in a random direction until he found something familiar, when there was a rush of air behind him. The screeching of metal being moved caught his ear and, as he went to turn around, he froze.
Kneeling there, absolutely humongous, was his brother.
Except… instead of relieved, he felt..scared.
Donnie was huge, and the way he loomed over his small form was unnerving. Shadow covered his face and Mikey had to crane his neck up just to see it. He knew this was his brother, but the more he looked at him, the more he wishes he’d just stayed hidden.
As he was busy staring, a hand bigger than his whole body shot out and grabbed him around the shell. His feet were lifted off the ground as he became dizzy from the sudden movement. Mikey could feel the fingers tightly around him, strong enough to crack his shell in a second.
When Mikey looked back at Donnie, he found he was right at eye level with him. He still had his pair of work goggles on and Mikey could see his own reflection shaking in them. He couldn’t help it. Donnie just looked so cold like this, like he was staring at a new specimen, not his brother.
It seemed Donnie must have felt that way too, as he started poking and twisting Mikey like a new toy. Fingers pinned him, forced to watch his arm practically disappear as Donnie grabbed it, scared that any twitch would rip his arm off.
Suddenly, the prodding stopped. He was still stuck in his big brother's hand, but now he wasn’t doing anything. Not being able to hold his gaze any longer, Mikey looked at the ground, not trying to stop the tensing of his body at seeing how far up he was.
“Mikey?”
He couldn’t help the flinch at how loud the purple turtle's voice was as it seemed to vibrate through his body. He could feel the bass from it rattle through his shell and into his skull with ease.
“Are you alright, little brother?”
Mikey flinched once again, but couldn’t help but feel guilty for the way he was acting. It’s not like Donnie’s trying to be scary! So, with minor hesitation, he looked up. He saw the goggles had been removed and the piercing gaze had been replaced with concern.
He forced himself to un-tense his muscles and tried to give Donnie a convincing smile. When he tried to speak, it came out in a stutter at first, but he persisted.
“Y-yea, I’m ok dude, you’re huge,”
“R-really big,”
He hoped the last part was too quiet to hear, whispering it under his breath to help him process it.
~~~~~~
Donnie sighed, nearly blowing Mikey’s mask right off. He walked over to his machine, placed Mikey down in front of it, and walked to the controls.
“Test one successful, initiating reversal sequence. "
As the device started glowing that purple hue again, Mikey knew he couldn’t wait to be normal sized and he would never agree to testing Donnie’s experiments without knowing what they do first.
Then, the machine's tip lit up and Mikey closed his eyes, not wanting to be blinded like last time. But…after a few seconds, nothing happened. He peeked one eye open and saw that the machine was dark. He didn’t need to know science to know that this was bad.
He glanced over at Donnie to see him looking just as confused.
This was very bad.
well that took a while. It’ll be awhile before I can write another one of these T-T
but please send asks! I’ll make sure no ask is left unanswered.
