Giant Mayfly (Hexagenia) at my Parents' House, last month. Larval Hexagenia feed on particles in shallow water bodies, which they collect from small tunnels that they create in the mud. It takes about a year for the larvae to feed enough to develop into the impressive adults which emerge from their aquatic habitat and disperse to find mates. . A New Post is up on my blog, highlighting the nature observations I made during June at my Parents' House.
