DAY 18

AND WE’RE BACK IN BUSINESS.

One thing I did do Saturday: make a bread pudding.  We have a ton of little baguette rounds that aren’t really good for anything other than turning into bread crumbs or bread pudding.  I chose the latter.  We still have a lot of baguette rounds, though.

Anyway, after some initial preparations, we drove back to Seattle.  With us came a pile of boffers, some assorted file sorting things, and a lot of food.

We met up with Dad about half way to Seattle, where he gave us more food (I have no complaints because a giant bag of Pirate Booty was among that food).

After a pit stop at the apartment to drop off some of the more spoil-able food, the family did what they always do when in Seattle: go to Uwajimaya.

For those of you who do not live in Seattle, Uwajimaya is a big ol’ Asian (mainly Japanese) market in the International district and the best (sometimes only) place to get a lot of our favorite Japanese goodies (like Pocky and those wafer-things and anpan and mochi and Pocky and those little panda cracker things and KitKats in weird flavors and, most importantly, Pocky).

We ran all over the place tossing everything that appeared to contain sugar into the cart.  I am currently regretting not taking a picture.  After collecting a mountain of treats, Sarah and I popped into the second best thing about Uwajimaya: the bookstore.

Now, I say bookstore, but it’s more like a manga-otaku store.  It is Sarah’s (my little sister, in case I haven’t said before) favorite place in the world.  This time around, there was a GIANT Pusheen plush sitting in the window display.  It was $400.  This should give you an idea of the sort of things this store has.

After spending half an hour in the little bookstore searching for Pop figures and convincing Sarah to hold off on getting the complete Fullmetal Alchemist Manga Collection, we bought our treat-pile and headed back to the apartment.

Then we tried all the treats and I said goodbye to family and they left and I continued to eat treats for a bit before going to bed.
