Have you always loved the sound of a J-200 but found it a little too large for you. Then this 1951 Gibson J-185 may be just what you’ve been looking for. Some people say this is the perfect guitar. Original brown hard shell case included. - This 1951 example is one of the earliest J-185s made. Only 66 sunburst examples were built during this introductory year, along with 11 in natural. All of these first-year 185s shipped within the last three months of 1951, this one around the beginning of November. This very early model feels slightly lighter in construction compared with later 1950s examples, though it's hard to see specific differences. Just arrived a 1950 Gibson SJ Southern Jumbo Flat Top Acoustic Guitar! - Link in our profile. - This 1950 SJ sports a very sharp look but, more importantly, a big warm sound. Among vintage SJ users perhaps most prominent was Don Everly, who primarily used a 1953 SJ to create the famous open-tuned chord hooks on the Everly Brothers' early records. Hank Williams can be spotted with one occasionally as well, in place of his more common Martins. This guitar has plenty of ring with quite a bit of punch when pushed, but never sounds thin.
