[vday day 10] trees don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day. But It’s Austere’s second valentines since he and Gid started dating, and he’s determined to still make it special. He hand writes an invitation to dinner at 7pm on Wednesday, wine included, and delivers it himself. Turned into a dove and also carrying a flower. He perches on a railing by Gid, getting his attention with a soft trilling noise. After Gid takes them, he shifts back, sitting on the fence. “Too much?” He grins

Gideon can’t help but laugh. 

It’s a wonder every time Austere changes his form, and he’s still so enchanted by it, even now. Still, a literal dove with a daisy in its mouth is a bit over the top, but Gid loves him. 

“Maybe just a smidge,” he says, leaning in to press a kiss to Austere’s mouth. “But I would be delighted to have dinner with you.” 

“Delighted’ doesn’t even cover it, really, but Austere already knows how Gideon feels about him, and just in case there’s any doubt left, he threads his fingers into Austere’s hair and pulls him in for another kiss, right there in front of the house.

Oh jesus. Okay. 

Nic’s favorite meal is chicken alfredo with bacon. Boy loves him a cream sauce.

Cella’s favorite outfit is usually something like jeans and a sports bra because it’s comfortable and she is hella confident about her rock hard abs.

Pip’s pet peeves (that alliteration tho):

people who get in front of him driving slow

under seasoned food

people who are rude for no reason

Jamie is 100% a lazy fucker on the weekends. He likes to sleep in, draw, watch tv, maybe go out for dinner, take a nap, play some video games, hang out with his partner, take another nap. 

Wren enjoys songs that build. They like soaring high notes, so usually they end up singing opera songs.

Gabe is an early summer boy. He likes hanging around outside when it’s hot, and loves how it cools off at night so he can chill on the fire escape and smoke.

Gideon loves strawberry lemonade and anything meat and potatoes. 

Jesus, Punky, we’ll be here all day. Imma do not all of my muses because damn.

Nic loves that Arkiem is so caring. He loves that Zane is so fearlessly himself when it comes to the things he care about and enjoys. He loves that Zana is so kind, even when the world is mean. 

Tobias’ favorite thing about Liam is how strong he is and how soft he can be. 

Ed’s favorite thing about Zane is pretty much everything. He loves how Zane makes him feel important and wanted and how easy it is to be himself around Zane. He loves that Zana is so open and warm. He loves Ryan’s dedication to his work and to his friends and to Ed and how loyal he is.

Pip loves how much personality and affection Zana has in such a small person. 

Cella loves how Blaise doesn’t let his muteness stop him from doing anything, and she loves how he makes her feel. 

Gideon thinks Austere is magic. Everything about him is fascinating and amazing and new, and he’s honestly never been so drawn to another person.

OC Kiss Week: Day 1

“Jesus fucking Christ, it’s cold out there!” Gideon complains as soon as he comes through the front door of the farm house. He pauses to take his boots off, shaking the compacted snow from the bottom and putting them in the shoe rack before he slams the door on the frigid outside world for the rest of the day. 

It’s been a week of nothing but sub zero temperatures, and even with all of his layers, his face is wind stung, and his body is chilled to the bone. Luckily, there’s a fire blazing in the wood stove, and the smell of something wonderful curling through the house, so Austere must have worked his way out of bed and made lunch. 

If the cold is bad for him, a farmer who has to work out in it every day, it’s doubly bad for someone like Austere who has such a connection to nature. There are days when he goes so still that Gideon worries he’s frozen over. 

When Gid steps through into the living room, he finds Austere wrapped in a blanket on the couch, reading a book. “You survived,” he says, when he looks up to see Gideon standing there. 

“Barely. I’m not going back out there.” 

Austere smiles. “Good. Stay in here instead. There’s soup on the stove. Chicken and rice. Your favorite.” 

“You’re a blessing,” Gideon sighs. He always means it, too. Before Austere he had to do all this alone, and there was no lunch or fire or warm, inviting boyfriend waiting for him when he got inside. He crosses the room and leans down to press a kiss to Austere’s forehead before following it up with one on the lips. 

“Your lips are cold,” Austere teases, and Gideon rolls his eyes, warm all the way through.

The onset of winter is hard on Austere. There's something about the cold that seeps into his bones, trying to lull him into the trees' sleep. But Gid helped him through it & now he's doing better. In fact, he decorated the farm for the holidays with help from some animals. He's decorating the barn when Gid runs into him & he smiles. "You're just in time, Gid," he says, then tacks the mistletoe in his hand to the open door frame. Once he's off the ladder, he kisses that smile right off Gid's face

It worries Gideon when Austere goes quiet and still like so much else outside in the cold, and he works to coax him back to him with hot tea and warm blankets and warmer kisses. He’s sure that it’s worked when he steps into a barn to check the hay supply before he makes a run to town and sees Austere busy decorating. 

“Always did have good timing, me,” he says with a grin and returns the kiss, one large hand coming up to cup Austere’s face. “I’m headed into town to get feed for the month. Come with me?”

First sentence: "I don't think they like that very much."

Gideon wiped his brow with the back of his hand and smiled up at Austere, letting the tiny russet brown piglet in his arms escape for the time being. The little bugger would still need to be weighed, but tagging was enough for now, and it had been four solid hours of work already, so he was more than ready for a break. 

The appearance of his boyfriend seemed as good a reason as any, so he got up and brushed the dirt from the back of his pants before leaning over the fence to kiss Austere’s cheek.

“They don’t,” he agreed with a smile, “but it’s just another part of the process. Done for now though, so I’m all yours.”
