After three seasons on VH1 and one season on BET, “Hit the Floor” was canceled for the final time back in December. Creator James LaRosa [...] revealed on Monday that the show would officially not be coming back on any network or platform.
Still, he said he’d never want to “leave anyone in the lurch” about what was going to happen to their favorite characters, and he’s keeping to that with his post on Monday. He shared all of the answers about what was to come for the players, dancers and businesspeople of “Hit the Floor.”
The Devils did lose their team, and a new one comes to town, but none of the characters are ready to let that happen [...] “Thanks to Jelena, who returns herself to right the ship. But it’s going to take something more to put them over the top. That comes with the arrivals of Zero, Sloane and Terrence.”
[...] Zero shocks Jude by telling him he didn't return for the Devils, he returned for Jude. He's overcome his fears about his sexuality once and for all, bares his heart and soul, and proposes. The two get married in front of friends and family, including Zero’s sister, Laura, “who Jude tracks down as his wedding gift.” Zero and Jude have a baby girl, that Lionel carries. The Kinkades thrive.
For LaRosa’s final words about the show, he wrote, “Four amazing seasons, we laughed and cried, we danced, we looked for clues, we rooted for people who played hard and loved hard, and it didn’t matter what their race or gender or sexual orientation was. We wanted them to win. And they did. Devils Nation Rise Up! And we keep rising, forever, together.”
Zero stared at Jude with huge smile, Jude just caught Ahsha’s Bouquet. Jude looked at Zero with a smirk. Did that really just happen? He didn’t know what to do. The party guest just cheered and clapped. Lionel walked over and pat Zero on the back. “First a house and now a Bouquet.” Zero smiled at Lionel and shrugged. “I’m a man of many surprises.” “Is a ring next?” Jude looked at Lionel and shook his head. Did she really just say that? “Zero doesn’t do marriage.” Lionel and Zero turned to Jude. Zero gave Jude a confused look. “When did I ever say that?” A huge smile went across Lionel’s face. Jude a gusted his tie. Would Zero really marry him? They never had this conversation? “Jude I love you stupid. I would marry you right now if I could. But there’s another wedding going on so…” Jude stared at Zero nervously. Lionel looked at Jude. He looked like he was going to pass out. “You ok Jude? You look a little warm.” Lionel was worried. “Is it hot in here or is it just me?” “Babe we’re outside…” Jude looked around and let out a chuckle. “Oh right.” Zero put his arm around Jude. “Let’s go inside.” Lionel, Jude and Zero went inside the wedding hall so that Jude could sit and relax. “Jude are you ok?” Zero looked at Jude confused and worried. That’s when Jude blurted out the words, everyone hoped for. “Will you marry me?” Lionel looked at Zero and back to Jude. Did Jude just say what she think he said. Was this all happening? “What?” Zero thought he heard Jude wrong. “Marry me, let’s go to Vegas tonight and get married.” Lionel started to tear up. Her best friend was really in love. Something she always wanted for Jude was to be happy, and with Zero Jude was his best. She hoped to have a love like theirs someday. She once had it with Pete but that fire burned out. Now she needed to light it up again with someone who made her feel, the way Zero and Jude felt about each other. “Really Jude? Jude sighed. “I knew you didn’t want to get married.” Zero smiled, “No I want to marry you, I’m just wish I could have asked you first.” Jude smiled got up and kissed Zero. “So that’s a yes right?” Lionel asked. Zero stared at Jude. “That’s a hell yes.” “One thing though.” Zero and Lionel looked at Jude. What could he possible want now. “Let’s not tell anyone yet. Since Ahsha and Derek just got married not even an hour ago.” “Deal.” Zero said. “Lionel, would you be my best maid of honor?” Lionel looked at Jude and tried hard not to but she couldn’t help but cry. She got in the middle of Jude and Zero and pulled them into one big hug. The boys hugged her back tight. She whipped her tears. “Ok let’s get out of here. We have a long drive.” Zero took Jude’s hand and they followed Lionel out of the Hall. Right when the Dersha wedding was over, Lionel and the boys quickly went to their homes to get ready for Vegas. Lionel told them she'd met them at their house in an hour. Jude walked into the room and put the two suit cases on the bed and put his and Zero's clothes in them. Zero walked out of the bathroom with his basketball player ring. All the players had them to show they're part of the team. Some players have their rings to their significant others. "Put this on." Zero took Judes hand out the ring on his finger. It just fit. Jude looked at Zero confused but happy at the same time. "Temporary engagement ring." Jude pulled zero into a kiss. "Have I ever told you how much I love you?" Jude smirked and looked at Zero. Zero have him a look,"you have but you can tell me again and again and so on." Jude shook his head. "I love you stupid." "I love you too." BEEP BEEP Zero walked over and looked out. Lionel was here. She offered to drive since her windows were tinted and Zero's driver was off for the weekend. "Bring the luggage to the car while I lock the doors." "Alright." Zero took the luggage and walked down to the car. When he opened the door Lionel was singing WannaBe bye the Spice Girls, she turned and started singing to Zero. " So Tell me what you want, what you really, really want?" Zero stared at Lionel and then bust out into song. "I wanna , (ha) I wanna, (ha) I wanna, (ha), I wanna, (ha) I really, really , really wanna zigazig ahhhhhh." Behind Zero Jude burst out laughing. Zero turned around embarrassed. Jude started to sing. "If you want my future forget my past." Lionel got out of the car and ran over and started dancing. "If you wanna get with me better make it fast." Zero spun Lionel and Jude around. "Now don't go wasting my precious time." Together Jude and Lionel looked at Zero and sang. "Get your act together and we will be just fine." They all burst out laughing. "Get in the car and let's go." Lionel said smiling. Zero kissed Jude and opened his door. After a long drive to the hotel, they made it to the motel in the late afternoon the next day. Lionel and Jude shared a room, while Zero had his own. Bad luck to see the Groom before the wedding. Plus, Lionel had a bachelor party planned for Jude. She was taking him to dinner and then the strip club to get drunk. By tomorrow night he would be sober enough to get married. Jude walked out of the bathroom with blue button down shirt and jeans. He looked at Lionel who looked stunning with her hair curled, wearing a sparkle gold strapless dress. Jude walked over and handed Lionel a letter. “This is for Zero, can you go give it to him for me.” Lionel took the letter, she started to worry. “Oh god you have cold feet? Not the time Jude, he is your soulmates. You are the Kings of LA and I’m clearly the queen so you can’t run you…” “Lionel relax, it’s just his wedding present.” Lionel smiled and relaxed. “Thank god.” She kissed Jude’s cheek and walked out. Zero opened the door in a towel, still a little wet from the shower. Lionel looked at Zero up and down. “Jude is a very lucky man, so damn lucky.” Zero laughed, he was flatted. “He’s lucky to have such a hot best friend.” Lionel smirked, that was true. She handed Zero the letter. “Your wedding present.” Zero took the letter and smiled. “Tell him, he’ll get his tomorrow.” Lionel kissed Zero’s cheek and headed back to the room. When Zero got into the room, he laid on the bed and opened the letter. “To my Future, Meeting you was the best thing to ever happen to me. You have given me so much and I wouldn’t change anything for the world. On our way home from the wedding I realized and couldn’t think of anything for a wedding present for you. I may be making our house a home, but what good is it when we won’t have family members besides Lionel coming over for the Holidays? And that’s when I realized the finale piece to making our house a home. Be downstairs at the bar for 7. I love you.” Zero was so confused by Jude’s note. He looked at the clock he had to be downstairs in 5 minutes. He quickly put on his black button down shirt and jeans. When he walked in the bar he was overcome with so many emotions when he saw his gift. How did Jude do this? It such short time. He walked over to the bar and at that time the girl having similar facial features as Zero turned and smiled. “Gideon.” She grabbed Zero and hugged him tight. “I missed you so much!” Zero relaxed and hugged back his sister Laura. “I missed you too little sister.”
Girl I don't want them to have a big wedding. Just them (and maybe Lionel because she would probably kill them both if she wasn't invited) on a beautiful place, like a beach or something. Private weddings rule 😈
I don’t want a big wedding either, but I want to at least see a ceremony lol! OMG can you imagine their vows????!!!!!😭😍
Also, don’t tell me you don’t wanna hear them call Zero, “Gideon Kinkade” or “Mr. Kinkade” 😏
There’s a Home For Us (Hit The Floor: Post 3x10 Fic)
Summary: He opens his hand again, the key now warm in his palm, in his mind, the key now intrinsically tied to Zero’s happiness.
Notes: Post 3x10 - Possession, after Zero smashed Jelena’s image/lightbox (I don’t know what it’s called). Figured that since it was glass, Zero would’ve cut himself open so ta-da hurt/comfort! This is a tiny bump in the road but Jude will figure something out - he’s not about to let Zero lose his family. First time writing Zude, so apologies if the characterisation is a bit off.
Jude raises his hand to knock at the door and then pauses.
He shouldn’t pause - for two reasons actually.
Firstly, it’s his own front door.
Secondly...
He lets out a huff of frustration, resting his forehead against the door. He can’t exactly think of a secondly other than, if Zero didn’t want to see him then he should’ve gone to his own damn house. Yeah, that’s a pretty good secondly.
But then he circles back to the first reason, because it’s an excellent reason - it’s his front door.
Except, it’s not really his is it? It’s theirs and to be honest, it’s been theirs ever since they came to L.A. Zero has a house, but his home is here, with Jude.
Jude huffs out a breath, no longer delaying the inevitable and uses his key. He pushes open the door, flicking on the light-switch. His eyes quickly scan the room.
Zero isn’t in the living room.
“Gideon?” he calls out. There’s no pair of shoes by the door. The couch cushions aren’t disturbed. There’s no half finished bowl of cereal on the coffee table. Something sad begins to grow in the bottom of his stomach. Maybe Zero had gone to his own place.
Jude throws his coat and bag onto the couch, and loosens his tie.
He should be making up contingency plans, the next steps, ways to dig them out of the grave they’ve found themselves in, but at the moment his brain is sluggish. He’s weary.
As makes his way to his room a thought strikes him - ugly and quick like a snake striking at it’s prey. Oh god, did we just break up? Shit-
The thought immediately stops as he walks into the bedroom finding Zero, head down and shoulders hunched, sitting on the end of their bed. Zero’s staring at the back of his hand that’s curled into a fist. There are a couple of tissues with dried blood on the bedspread beside him and Jude inwardly sighs in relief.
This guy, he thinks. My guy...
He walks towards Zero and standing between his open knees. “Give me your arm,” he says softly. Zero finally looks up at him, eyes hurt confused, like he can’t quite pinpoint where his life went to shit. “Gideon, c’mon.” Jude hauls him up and pushes him into the bathroom, switching the light on behind him.
He rests Zero against the counter and kneels down to peer under the cabinet of the bathroom sink. Where is it? he thinks, moving various boxes out of the way. He quickly glances up at Zero who still staring at his hand - still silent.
Zero won’t talk until he’s ready.
He spots the small plastic box that houses his first aid supplies. It’s never been well stocked, despite his furious ‘always be prepared’ tendencies. He’s generally not one to get into fights and scrapes.
Zero on the other hand...
Jude opens the box, gets out the antibacterial cream, a box of band-aids and bandages. “Let’s see the damage.” He pulls on Zero’s hand, holds it up against the light and catches sight of a few thin slivers of glass glinting along Zero’s arm. He quickly checks one of the drawers for tweezers and begins pulling out the slivers.
Two come from the front of Zero’s forearm. Jude’s breath almost stutters as he hears the tiny clink as glass meets countertop. He removes a few more pieces, and finally gets to Zero’s hand. “Open,” he murmurs.
Zero turns his fist and opens his hand and Jude’s heart breaks. He tries not to notice how the light skims along the surface of the key in Zero’s palm. Zero’s slightly bloodied fingers close around it again.
He’s about to say something,as he continues tweezing, when Zero’s fingers curl around his jaw, thumb rubbing down along his neck. “I’m sorry.” Zero pulls back, show’s him the little piece of glass balanced on the end of his finger tip on top of a fleck of dried blood.
“Oh. I didn’t notice...” Jude mumbles, dropping another speck of glass onto the counter.
"I..." Zero trails off pinching the bridge of his nose before clasping Jude’s wrist. "I wasn't angry at you - you know that right?"
"You driving your arm into her face instead of my own?" he say dryly. "Yeah I had wondered.” He drops the tweezers and turns on the tap waiting until the water no longer runs ice cold. “I think I got it all. Wash the blood off,” he instructs after unwrapping Zero’s fingers from the key.
Jude puts the key in his pocket.
Zero shoves his hand under the faucet and a few minutes later turns the tap off, shaking his arm to get rid of the water droplets, too impatient to reach around for a towel.
They’re in a bad predicament. They both know it. He’s out of a job. His friend is at the mercy of his father. Zero may not be in L.A for the foreseeable future if Jelena really gets her way.
“Its gonna be alright,” he says despite all of that.
Zero sighs as he shakes his head. “I’m being traded.”
Jude passes him the antiseptic cream with a look that dares him to forego it. Zero rolls his eyes and begins applying the cream, scrunching his nose up at the smell of it. “We’ll see. There’s gotta be something we can do.”
“There, done.” Jude hands him the box of band-aids. Zero shakes his head. “I don’t need it. They’re shallow cuts, man.”
“Humour me,” Jude replies. He tries to tamp down the grin that threatens to break out across his face as Zero looks warily at the dark cardboard box.
“They’re Batman band-aids.”
Jude grins. “Like I said. Humour me.”
“I don’t like Batman.” He pulls one out and fiddles with the plastic tabs. “Why do you have them?” Uh-oh. Zero smiles, eyes dancing with mirth. “It’s the deep voice isn’t it? Gravelly, stern...”
Fuck. “Oh shut up - they’re just band-aids. Only thing they had left.”
“These are never the only ones they have left,” Zero singsongs slapping one last one across his arm. “Holy banana skins, Batman!” he chuckles. “Okay, Doc, I’m all patched up.”
Jude shakes his head imaging the teasing that will follow him around for the next few days. He reaches into his pockets and pulls out the key running it under the tap quickly and shaking it off as he grabs Zero’s hand and pulls him back across into the bedroom.
And now for the hard part.
The levity is gone, the lines around Zero’s eyes tight, drawn to the key in Jude’s hand. “What about the house?” he asks, sitting with his back against the headboard of the bed.
Jude’s sits next to him, his fingers manipulating the key, spinning it around. “What about it? You own it-”
Zero interjects quickly. “We own it. Your name’s on the title.”
“Yeah and-”
“We own it, say it dude.”
He rolls his eyes and humours Zero, “Fine, we own the house...but it’s not like we could move into it right away. You said so yourself, you left my sledgehammer in the wall and I’m pretty sure you smashed through something important...like a beam...” And yeah, he has no idea about buildings, so sue him.
Zero smirks next to him. “Did the ceiling fall?”
“No...but it might have - do I look like a builder to you?”
“Don’t give me ideas Jude, I might make you wear a tool-belt in bed next time...”
Jude catches the expression that crosses Zero’s face. “Hey, there are going to be a whole lot of next times. If I can’t find a way to stop this and Jelena trades you, then we’ll figure something out.”
Zero looks at him skeptically. “You mean long-distance?”
“If that’s what it’ll take.” They’ll hate it. Jude is certain about that, but if he can’t have Zero with him, then he’ll take anything he can get.
“You think we can hack it, between whatever training schedule I might get, and your dad and Lionel?”
“Don’t you? We are going to make this work. Unless...” he trails off and tries not to let the thread of panic enter his voice as he says, “you don’t want it to.”
Zero turns to him and slaps a hand against his thigh, squeezing briefly and letting it rest there. “Don’t be stupid, Stupid. I bought us a house. Does that sound like I’m trying to get out of it? I wouldn’t have given you a key of I didn’t want you with me.” He blows out a breath. “This just...sucks.”
Jude closes his hand around Zero’s key, feeling the need to explain his decision again. "Lionel, she's my friend."
Zero cocks an eyebrow. "Technically, she's your step-mom."
Jude pokes Zero’s side. "She's my friend-" he stresses "and she is in a very bad position. I can't leave her to him." He lets that sink in for a moment before pulling a willing Zero into him, wrapping an arm around the blond’s shoulder and kissing his temple. “We’ll live in the house. It might take some time but we’ll renovate it, and paint the walls...pick our own furniture.”.
“Spa-bath,” Zero murmurs, slouching down against Jude’s chest.
He opens his hand again, the key now warm in his palm, in his mind, the key now intrinsically tied to Zero’s happiness
