It might not be the same, but its a human and a not-quite-human stuck in space, on a mission they might not be able to return from, and instead of a teacher, the main character is a father (whose kids sends adorable radio messages up to their dad)

Just thought the project hail mary crowd might appreciate the recommendation :)

Also, it's a finished show, with just 9 episodes, so it's a compact little listen

give me away’s crossover episodes are the best i’ve ever seen. they slot in with the plot in a way that manages to be both self contained and not feel shoehorned in. they add depth to the ongoing story in a way that feels intentional and real and impactful!

i feel like other podcast crossovers i’ve listened to feel like bottle episodes in a bad way, where they don’t really add anything, and are just base repetitions/introductions to both source materials. give me away it feels like we are gaining depth to the characters!! it’s rich and juicy character beats!!! in a crossover!!!!!

if you like character driven sci fi dramas: listen to give me away!!! it’s worth your time.

give me away is so fucking good you guys. it’s so worth your time. the character drama and interpersonal relationships (literally!! haha) are so real and visceral and human and they get you to care so deeply about them and then they get put in a blender (aliens in your brain) and it fucks so hard.

it’s sci fi as a backdrop for drama and they do The Most. i cannot recommend it enough it is phenomenal.

I AM ALSO CRAZY ABOUT THAT SHOW. I've always loved Mac's writing of course, and we've known each other for years, but I have been obsessed with Jordana Williams' directing since Steal the Stars and I don't even remember how we got introduced but immediately I was like "hi be my friend I think you're so cool" and she IS so cool and so is Sean and when they asked me to be in Season 2 it was a DREAM and I'm so glad that other people are listening to this show because I think it is supremely slept on, when I heard the first season, I literally listened in, like, 1.5 days bc I couldn't stop. anyway, I hope you enjoy S2 because it fucking RIPS and Nat Cassidy is truly doing some bonkers amazing acting, MVP of the whole season imo
