It's Just the Beginning...
I'm starting my 10th week at UMSI, beginning to choose classes for next semester, and am starting to see the end of the semester approaching. So much has happened in the the past few weeks.
I was accepted into the Global Information Engagement Program (GIEP) and will be spending May and June in Bangalore, India. I will be working with the Alternative Law Forum to design and develop a platform that will allow human rights lawyers across the country to act as a support network for one another, share existing resources, and collaboratively generate new resources as well as create an efficient and effective system for people who need legal services to connect with human rights lawyers in India.
I also had an interview with GE last week and was accepted into their co-op program in January as well as their summer internship program! I'm still trying to figure out if the summer internship is doable since I will not be in the country in May/June, but I can't believe this is all happening. The past few weeks have been absolutely mad with papers, projects, work, and interviews. Somehow, it is all coming together. My philosophy for this semester has been, "do everything and see what sticks." It seems to actually be working. I can't believe that this time last year, I impulsively decided to apply to graduate school and was studying for my GRE. I remember cancelling Thanksgiving because there was too much studying to do to take a day off to cook and going to Chinese restaurant and eating garlic fried crab instead of turkey.
It's insane how so much can change in so little time. Everyone from the student affairs office/career development have been so supportive while I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I guess they truly have seen it all before and know that it will all work out. EEEEEEK! This is really happening. I'm so happy, and I can't wait, but I still have a paper due on Friday! Onwards Ho!
