GRAND ARCHER GILAGMESH NAKED
While Gil has a lot of common with princely-type characters (to the point where a lot of other princetype characters Do it for me), I think it is really important to make the distinction that he's not a princetype. Not just because he's meaner and crueler than your actual princely characters but because he is not a prince. He's a king.
Being a king, THE king, is a crucial part of Gil's character he can't be separated from. Even Kid Gil isn't a prince; he's been a king from the moment he was born. Gil's personality, actions, and motivations are all intrinsically tied with the responsibility. Even when he's being lazy in Fuyuki or abandoned Uruk on his immortality quest, he is still keenly aware of bearing the weight of the world. His actions in both cases are waiting for/finding a way to act on his duties.
Princes have power, but without the responsibility. Gil can't just have a position of power, he needs to be the one in charge. That's why he can't just be a wealthy businessman, he's the company president. The whole reason shopkeeper Gil is so funny in SamRem is that we all already know about his position of power and responsibility, it's basically just him going incognito for a vacation.
This is why whenever I make AUs I always like to make sure that Gil is still in a position of authority at the top level. Without that, something just feels off. He's a shitty bastard BECAUSE he is the one in charge. Not only that, he takes his duty seriously. Archer takes his judge of humanity duty seriously, and Caster takes his king duty seriously. (And then Ruler takes being a shopkeeper super seriously too fsjkdfhs.)
i was already ecstatic we got utnapishtim namedrop but to think we get the huge lore reveal that Ea all along was ALSO a prototype weapon just like every other thing in Gil's treasury, specifically for the sword that fucking capital G God used to split the heavens. im going insane
Reblog to scare gilgamesh
WAAAAAAA THE CASINO OUTFIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they made it red here instead of white... it looks so good 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
To my fellow Gil-enjoyers, or really all Fate mutuals, youtube Type-Moon letsplayer Tanner of the North is currently going through Gil's route of CCC! He did Tamamo's route already, and is now doing NG+ and will do both Gil's ending and the CCC route/true ending from this.
Given that there's the original subbed playthrough on youtube and the patched game just being readily available now, this isn't necessary for experiencing the story yourself, but it is really fun to see someone who is a fellow hardcore Type-Moon fan react to Gil's route, especially given he's mentioned he knows the reputation CCC has for making people like Gil
hi! as someone who also loves gil deeply i love your blog and all your meta posts about our king. but i was curious, i know you ship kotogil and gilkidu and gilhaku, but how do you feel about gilguda? i ship gil with...basically all of the above options, all gil ships are good and amazing, but as someone who does ship all of them (and who is excited as hell thanks to oc3 for gil to have an entire ass harem in chaldea now lmfao) sometimes i get kinda anxious about shipping gilguda in the wake of how much people love all the others ships in comparison.
i do like gilguda!! i think they dont quite get as much time together as gil does with the other three, which is probably why its not quite as popular, but i do really like them. given the nature of things they dont really get a lot of one on one time in babylonia, but gil does come to genuinely admire and respect guda there, and then in solomon he comes in and give a whole speech as he helps guda to protect humanity together! the movie even implied that gil helped give guda the final power boost they needed
and then in chaldea gil very openly really likes guda! you can't forget the classic "give me a week's notice before your birthday". hes a complete tsun about caring about them. he will work well together with guda, like in the second gilfest where he helps you defeat spishtar. he basically never gets significantly angry at them
and ofc, both versions' valentines scenes are oo perfect. archer is a complete tsun and caster takes you on a literal date!
guda is definitely up there with the people gil cares about the most, just like the others. he literally sacrificed himself in babylonia to save them!!
