They kill closest to them to gain the throne, deceive their neighbors to claim their lands, ignore the suffering of the people they rule over...with so much history, you'd think there'd be at least one ruler who was kind and fair and filled with love for all, no matter who they were....no wait, I guess people like that wouldn't leave their mark on history, would they?" Chevalier: "Of course not. In a world like ours, where a class-based society has become the accepted norm, rulers who value love and fairness will always be the first to be eliminated. Those who seize power can never dare relinquish it. And if that causes problem for others, they simply pretend not to see. They care nothing for the suffering of others. That's the true nature of humans." Gilbert:"I don't know, is it really? I think people are naturally fair and honest creatures. The world makes people greedy, but that means the world is bad. People aren't bad." Chevalier:"If we go with your theory, that would mean there are no real villains in the world." Gilbert:"Yup. Because the true nature of people is actually love. I think maybe even all those corrupt leaders in the history books could have been kind to others if the world was different."
"If you stay in a place like the Royal Court, a place that lays bare all your greed, sooner or later you'll fall into ruin too. And you see, I want to watch that up close. And I can't imagine you find Rhodolite a very pleasant kingdom to be in, as an Obsidianite prince. I just thought, it can be really exhausting, not having anyone around you that you can trust. Clavis: "this is a very special trap. It could change the fate of the kingdom." Emma: "Well, I don't want tos be complicit in digging a trap that could change the fate of the kingdom." Clavis: "Haha! "If you keep suppressing everything you're feeling and keep insisting that you're fine...eventually, you'll turn into a beast like me. But since you can still cry, that means you are still human. You should treasure that about yourself." — Gilbert.
"Your fine isn't fine at all. You're just like I was way back then, saying I was fine every time I killed someone. "It's not rare for royal families to have a predilection for debauchery and there are countries even in worse situations, where all people are slaves. The whole continent is built on authoritianism. Royalty and nobility hold all the power and they use it to control the world. Commoners like you know deep in your bones that you can't go up against the people who hold power. You know exactly what I mean, don't you? Think to back when you were first chosen to be Belle. According to the report...you rushed in and slapped a man who was being insolent to Chevalier. And you did that because you understood instantly that if he wasn't careful around someone so powerful, he'd be killed. And considering you ended up with a sword at your throat, you read the situation right. But if you stop and think about it, well, it's strange isn't it? Why is it a crime just to say something rude to someone? There's nothing about you or me that makes one of us intristically inferior or superior to the other. Humans are basically all the same. And naturally, from the societal perspective, we probably need people who can take the lead. People who are capable and talented, who can bring others together and build a better tomorrow. That's a healthy way to be. But right now, this whole continent is set up so that those with power can behave however they like and drag everyone around them into it. Of course, I'm not saying everyone's like that. Rhodolitian princes are very talented. And I think even Silvio and Keith will grow to be good rulers. The former king of Rhodolite was once known for being a good ruler. People change. There's nothing absolute in this world. And that's why authoritianism itself shouldn't even exist. If you look back through the pages of history, there's barely more than a handful of wise rulers. I'm the ruler of the country that knows deception and decay all too well, so I understand better than most. That's why my ideal, my ambition, is to conquer all the royalty that have infested this whole continent and free the people who are under their control. — Gilbert.
Emma: "...It's fine! We are not in middle of anything! You really should prioritize your work!" Gilbert: "Aww, come on..." Emma: "I'll even bake you something while you are working! What do you say?" Gilbert: "...I'm going to start sulking." Emma: "I'll bake you lots of somethings!" Gilbert: "Fine, fine. But just this once."

Akatsuki:"I'm definitely going to kill you." Rio: "I'll help." Yves: "Would you stop already! This isn't the time—or the place—to cause a transnational crisis!"
"That sounds promising. I like villainesses." — Gilbert.
"...I'll work it out on my own somehow!" (...) "...I can't work it out on my own." — Emma.
"Luke, I don't care about me, but I don't think it's appropriate to be pointing guns at a woman, do you?" — Clavis.
"You're nothing like me. You're pure white. Nothing can turn you black. You're so white you're dazzling." — Gilbert.
"This woman came marching into enemy territory with her own foolish idea and tried to talk all of you out of your own foolishness. And in response, you all relied on violence alone and abandoned all thought and reason. You entrusted everything to the beast. It's already clear as day who's the victor here." — Chevalier.
"He said...that he wanted to go to Rhodolite and meet you. I understand that it was a very troubling idea for you. And it turned your life upside down. Even I am unable to explain or excuse it. Emma: "...If you keep acting like that, I'm not going to be able to talk to anyone else ever." Gilbert: "oh, that'd be nice!"

Gilbert: "If I catch even a glimpse of another man nearby, I might end up wanting to kill him." Emma: "that's not jealousy, that's blackmail."
Luke: "it's not like we've spent heaps of time together, but he gave me money and stuff to support me, so I guess he's like my foster parent?" Gilbert: "you could call me big brother or something." Luke: "but you're more like a father figure." Gilbert: "then how about you call me papa?" Luke: "not a chance in hell. That's gross."
Gilbert: "and as you can see, he's quite fond of me." Luke: "I ain't fond of ya at all."
"...But I think you're kinda different to me. It ain't just blind faith or trust. Even if you love him, you're still trying to stop him. And that's cause you've still got your own ideals and willpower. I know I'm the one who said it first, but I don't think that's same as being conquered. "I don't think killing is the only way to get revenge. Making someone stay alive and spend their life atoning for their crimes is a form of revenge too, don't you think? If they die, then it's all over. The pain, the suffering, it all goes away and they get to know peace." — Emma.
