Science major Soma, still in university, meets Kanae where she works at the local cafe her parents own, but she’s also a rising indie singer on the side. He studies there so regularly that they slowly start to bond/crush, bc she is easy to talk to and notices when he’s stressed out and tries to make him feel better, she sticks around and kept coming back to try and talk to him, and it was kinda nice having someone who doesn’t get scared off. She likes how much he’s softened up since he started coming there, she thinks he’s really sweet and likes how passionate he is about his work/study (he was dismissive as shit to you when you met, girl 😭)

Already fully fledged scientist Soma, but Kanae is a school teacher and he meets her from his adopted little sister Shio’s school.
Shio is an alien or something of the sort, but she looks/ acts human enough that she passes as just kinda a oddball / high functional autistic(?), he snuck her out and adopted her to save her from being studied on. Only Sakaki and a few others maybe know.
Kanae is Shio’s favorite teacher, and figures out what’s up fairly quickly, and helps him protect her from Fenrir agents/possibly multiple entities who’re after her. Through that and all the high stakes drama shit they go through together, they fall in love.
Soma himself also possibly has something going on, but I dunno if that’s oracle-like something or what, he’s some kinda experiment, gene edited human?.
