There Were Certainly More Professional Ways of Doing This, But What the Hell

Dear Ma'am or Sir:

I’m writing to you because my husband and I are considering moving to Marquette. We live in Austin, Texas, now. It’s growing too hot, too crowded, and too expensive to live here any longer. We looked all over choose a new home, and after rejecting a few cities in Washington and in Maine, we decided on Marquette, Michigan, on the advice of a friend who lives in Ypsilanti. Every time we see pictures or read about Marquette, we fall in love with it a little more. Small town, affordable living, dog sledding through downtown...we’re sold.

We’re a couple of fairly quiet, thoughtful fellows. In his spare time, he makes music with instruments and his computer, and I attract hummingbirds and photograph them. We’re both ex-English majors, so we’re great with our native language. We know computers and can type fast. We’d very much like to move to Marquette--no later than next April--and start circulating some cash flow.

Problem is, if we decide to move there, we’re going to move there whether we have employment arranged in advance or not. So why not start working on that now? That said, I should advise you, I’m not asking you for work. Don’t get me wrong. If you have something for which I’m suitable, I’ll take it.

The husband and I are looking for data entry jobs, or anything that can be done sitting. Repetitive tasks, even relatively simple repetitive tasks, are ideal for him and me. He has a minor speech impediment, and I have ankles that don’t work. So he needs a job that doesn’t involve doing customer service over the phone, and I just need something I can sit down for. Perhaps one or both of us should learn how zambonis work.

So if you have any idea where what local employers might find us usable, I’d appreciate it greatly if you email back with ideas. Any information will undoubtedly be valuable, and be put to good use. If you have nothing, thank you anyway for reading this far, and enjoy the fall foliage!

Interview tomorrow for a sweet gig my eternally supportive friend clued me in on! Super stoked and I am feeling really confident that Im going to get it! Now lets just hope my confidence can last through tomorrow morning and my brakes dont give out before I get there! Wee! Bring on the first real job since 2009!
