The Doctor was constantly looking at new technology. He kept his eye out on markets and shops for anything new that he hadn’t seen. So, when he heard about a new technology that might allow him to give Donna her memories back without killing her, of course he was excited. He immediately went to find it for himself.
After a few years of searching, eventually he did find it. It was a small device that he could easily put on a watch or bracelet and allow him to do exactly what he wanted. He designed a bracelet and went looking for Donna, knowing he’d have to be careful. If she remembered anything before he put the bracelet on her, it could kill her.
He landed the TARDIS and walked out, knowing he was sure to be in for an adventure as he went to find her.
