A handful of a pretty boy

“I need you.”
Eddie turned in his seat, his eyes quickly running down the gorgeous man standing in front of him. Eddie wanted to share a beer with the guys after a successful gig. He wasn’t planning on going home with someone, but he’s not going to object to playing with a pretty thing. “Oh,” he said, bringing his beer bottle to his lips, grinning behind the beer. “You need me?”
Pretty Boy became flustered. A wrinkle in his brow. “Not like that.”
“Then how is it like?” Eddie asked, brow raised curiously. He could hear one of the guys scoff at him. They know that he’s interested. Like a cat waiting to strike at his toy.
“I need you to pretend to be with me,” Pretty Boy said.
“Pretend?” Eddie laughed. “Are we in middle school?”
Pretty Boy rolled his eyes. “Never mind, I’ll find someone else.”
He took a step away. Eddie’s hand shot out and caught his wrist. “No, wait,” Eddie whined with a fake pout. “I can pretend. I’m good at pretending. So good.”
Pretty Boy looked back at him cautiously before allowing himself to be pulled back to Eddie. “My ex is here,” he explained. “If he thinks I’m here alone, he’s going to be all up in my face.”
“So, what?” Eddie asked. “You gonna hide behind me for the next hour?”
“Something like that,” Pretty Boy huffed. “Look, I’ll get your next beer and you get to pretend to go home with someone for the night.”
Gareth laughed. “He pretends every night, that’s not new to him.”
Eddie shot a glare to Gareth. “Sure, pretty boy. But if he comes up, I’m not protecting you.”
“I don’t need protection,” Pretty Boy snapped. “I can handle myself.”
“Sure, handsome,” Eddie said, wrapping his arm around the man’s waist and pulling him close. “That’s why you’re asking to be my arm candy.”
Pretty Boy rolled his eyes. “I need to look occupied.”
“Oh, I can keep you occupied,” Eddie grinned. He slipped Pretty Boy’s empty glass out of his hand and turned to face the bartender. He set the glass down next to his beer and made eye contact with the bartender. “I’ll take another PBR and he’ll have a —“ he glanced towards Pretty Boy.
“Dark and Stormy,” Pretty Boy answered.
“Oh, mysterious,” Eddie said, wiggling his eyebrows. Pretty Boy laughed.
“It’s just dark rum and ginger beer,” Pretty Boy said. “Like a Moscow Mule without the copper cup.”
“So, in other words a fancy rum and coke?” Eddie asked.
Pretty Boy smirked as the drinks were placed in front of them. He picked up his drink, straw between his lips. “In a way.”
Eddie knew he was in trouble with this one. The sass. The bitchiness. The way he knew how he was effecting Eddie. God. If Eddie doesn’t go home with him tonight, he’s going to rub himself raw. “What’s your name, sweetheart?”
Pretty Boy opened his lips to answer —
“Steve!”
Pretty Boy immediately frowned, turning in Eddie’s grasp. A man, covered in freckles and a slight sway in his step approached them — approached Pretty Boy. Eddie couldn’t help but tighten his grip around Pretty Boy’s — Steve’s — waist.
“Steve!” The man said, stumbling to a stop in front of him. He reeked of alcohol. Who knows how long he’s been here. “I thought I saw you.”
“Tommy,” Steve said slowly, like a warning. “I don’t want to talk to you.”
“Baby, c’mon,” Tommy whined. “It was just one mistake.”
Eddie frowned. “He said he doesn’t want to talk to you.”
Tommy’s eyes flick to Eddie for a brief moment before returning back to Steve. “C’mon, baby. Don’t you miss us?”
Steve scoffed. “Didn’t realize you knew there was an us.”
Tommy frowned. “Steve.”
“Tommy,” Steve retorted. “Get lost.”
“Baby, please,” Tommy begged. “Let me remind you how good I am.”
God. This guy was pissing Eddie off. “Dude, get lost —“
Steve laughed. “You? Good? Let’s see —“ Steve set down his drink on the bar, full attention on this loser. “One, You’re selfish. Two, you’re jaded. Three, you’re nothing without your daddy’s money. And we can’t forget the fact that you got mommy issues, so four —“
Steve was counting on his fingers as he went.
“Five, you talk up such a big game but only last 6 seconds —“ two fingers went up. He’s moved to counting on his other hand. “Seven, can’t even trust you to not sleep around. Eight, the dumbest guy I’ve dated. Nine, you’re a sloppy drunk borderline alcoholic. Ten, you spend the majority of your day on ChatGPT so you can pretend you have an ounce of a personality.”
Steve wiggled all ten fingers.
“You’re a fucking loser, Tommy Hagan,” Steve said. “We’re over. Get out of my face.”
Eddie is starstruck.
Blown away by Steve’s performance. His bitchiness is perfected and so fucking hot. Eddie needed under him, or on top of him, whatever way Steve wanted him. Eddie needed that.
And a quick glance to his friends suggested that they were impressed by Steve as well.
Tommy was stunned, too. His jaw dropped like he didn’t expect Steve to destroy him like that.
“Jesus Christ,” Eddie murmured.
That snapped Tommy out of his trance.
“Steve,” Tommy snarled, grabbing Steve’s wrist. “Let’s go.”
Fuck, no.
Eddie pushed himself between Steve and Tommy, towering over the other man. “You heard him,” Eddie snapped. “He said get the fuck away from him.”
Tommy must have finally took in Eddie. The leather, the chains, the tattoos, the pissed off look in his eyes.
Tommy took a step back. “Whatever,” Tommy said, almost tripping over himself. “Your loss.”
Eddie waited until Tommy disappeared in the crowd before lowering his guard. The Corroded Coffin guys started to cheer. Eddie turned around in his spot, bending down in front of Steve, arms extended out as if he was worshiping the man. Well, he practically was. “We’re not worthy being in your presence.”
Steve let out a soft laugh, reaching forward and pulling Eddie up. “Stop that. Whatever that is.”
“Worshipping, my king,” Eddie said, taking another chance to bow. “That was impressive.”
Steve smiled smugly. He gently shrugged, picking up his glass for a drink. “That was nothing.” Steve’s eyes quickly ran down Eddie’s body, then back to his face. There was a glimmer in his eyes that felt like trouble. “I thought you weren’t going to protect me.”
Eddie smirked, bringing his hands to Steve’s waist. Just gentle enough if Steve wanted to step back, he could. “That’s before I found out you were more than a pretty face.”
Steve stepped forward. “So you think I’m pretty?”
“Baby, I think you’re gonna be a handful,” Eddie said squeezing Steve’s hips. “Will you allow me to show you that I can handle you?”
Steve laughed. “Handle me?”
“I promise I can last longer than 6 seconds,” Eddie murmured. “Maybe even eight.”
Steve hummed. “Guess you’ll have to prove that to me.”
And sure enough, Eddie did.
Plenty of times that night and years to come.
