gingernuggets replied to your post “If you’re not yet connected to mutual aid networks, please work on...”
What would be the best way to get connected with mutual aid networks? Are there any in specific you would suggest?
There are definitely mutual aid networks to hook into in most big cities. Smaller cities, suburbs, and rural areas you might need to build it collectively in your community to get it set up.
It can start simple-- like a Facebook group where people in your local area can post things they can offer (skills, labor, resources, funds, etc) and things they need. If you’re in an area with a big enough population, you can be selective about politics, but if you’re in a small town, it might be good to just figure out a way for tight content moderation while casting a larger net.
The idea is for everyone to get familiar with the other people in your area, comfortable with meeting up with/talking to/helping them. Think like the donation posts on here, but local and leaning towards the tangible (e.g. medication, place to crash, mechanical help, food).
If there’s any kind of leftist organizing in your area, it’s something I’d definitely recommend bringing up at a meeting. If they already have one, you can just join, and if not they’re the folks who will probably be willing to dedicate time/energy/resources to set it up with you.
If there’s nothing like that at all, start with your local friends/trusted acquaintances, and then gradually expand outwards.
Strong local communities are going to be the strongest protection against disaster.
gingernuggets replied to your post: Your trans dude thing is relatable feels for me...
Ugghhh, the whole “labels don’t matter” response to me always felt a whole lot more like “why don’t you just not label yourself so I can pretend you’re cis/straight a little longer?”
yuuuup
gingernuggets replied to your post: is nonbinary considered trans?
It think it’s also kind of important to note that when people talk about the trans community, a lot of times they are automatically including nonbinary people in that, even if though an nb person can choose whether or not to use the term “trans” for themselves :) (as in like, nb people are usually lumped in to the LGBT community under the T, etc. sorry if this is overstepping or anything, I’ve just seen a lot of confusion around this lately).
thank you for that addition! that’s important context!

SAME
GOD BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH IT’S SUCH AN ARTFULLY DONE ALBUM like i mentioned the winter metaphor in the tags but it’s my FAVE it goes SO DEEP ariel constantly refers to mephisto as winter and in memento mori the whole theme is ACCEPTANCE
like in Abandoned and This Pain he feels bad for himself but post-Moonlight he just accepts his fate and he stops blaming Mephisto and realizes he made his own mistakes and THAT LINE IN THE FINAL CHORUS
I’m still the god in my own history
Like what a PERFECT conclusion to his entire arc
Petal Pink, Fuzzy Duckling Yellow, Periwinkle!
Petal Pink: Describe your fashion sense as well as what you’re wearing right now. Grandparent. I’m literally wearing the ugliest fucking highlighter ass sweater I own and some black leggings holy shit lmao.Fuzzy Duckling Yellow: Is there something from childhood that you haven’t outgrown? Doubt it. I didn’t really keep anything from when I was a kid though so we’ll never know. Periwinkle: What’s something ordinary that has personal meaning to you? Lemon flavored sweets. When I was very small my Nana used to keep a big plastic jar of them that either she brought back from the UK or our family sent her. She would let me have some when I visited. I think they were sherbet lemon. So they had fizzy powder in the middle.
Connie, Kevin, Kofi, lion, Ronaldo, Rose Quartz (for the SU ask thing!) 😎

I don’t feel comfortable dancing, and there’s usually too many people and loud noises and I’m just EXTRA anxious the whole time. That can be nice.KOFI PIZZA - What do you think of kids nowadays? Whoo boy let em tell you. Kids these days. So hip. So fresh. (Honestly kids scared the shit out of me when I was one of them and they continue to scare me to this day hey hi hello what is UP.)LION - If you could store anything in your pockets with no space limit, what would you put in them? EVERYTHING??? Fuck carrying bags I’m a forgetful asshole. I’d keep a shit ton of art supplies in there. And probably candy??? Can I pull a Hermione™ and shove camping supplies in there too???
