was reading your oitnb comments and stuff and I was wondering how you felt about the cindy plot and the kosher stuff? I feel like oitnb is actively offensive to various groups and then flips it in a way to tell an important story. As far as this plot went I thought Cindy's discovery of Judaism was kind of beautiful, and it actually ended up showing me stuff I didn't know about judaism but I couldn't decide if all the kosher/jewish jokes made that worthwhile / a non-issue?

i agree, i thought it was touching that judaism meant so much to cindy and that she actively wanted to be a part of it. i’m grateful for a show to even mention judaism in a positive way (or even mention it at all) but it was lacking depth and explanation. every character seems to get a backstory that benefits their character development. i just don’t think it’s enough to talk about judaism when the show advocates for the humanity of these characters and has frequent flashbacks so the audience can understand who they are and where they come from. i mean we’ve seen sister ingells’ backstory and her christianity is at the forefront of her character. not to say that next season we won’t see a character with a jewish background but i feel like that’s as far as they’re willing to go, seeing as the cast features jewish cast members and a jewish showrunner and what they could do was have someone convert and make offensive cultural references

considering i was 12 years old when i joined tumblr back in 2008...quite a bit. i didn’t start using tumblr properly until late 2009 when i was really hung up on a boy and would blog about that. idk it’s interesting, this blog has been with me for such a long time i’ve changed a ton since i joined

yeah mostly just with underage drinking & torrenting. not sure that really counts
