I watched as one of the girls behind the bar flirted with Nestor, the way he played into it and seemed to be flirting back.

I looked away closing my eyes for a moment before standing from my seat and heading outside, sliding down the clubhouse’s wall.

I hated the way I fell for him, the way my eyes always searched for him during party’s or when I knew he was around. I hated how badly I wanted him knowing he could never see me the same way.

I was pulled from my thoughts when someone sat down beside me. I looked over seeing him, the same guy I was thinking of.

“Are you alright?” He questioned his eyes scanning over my face.

“Mhm.” I hummed looking away from him and up at the sky “The sky’s so pretty isn’t it?”

Nestor kept his eyes on Y/n as he agreed, though he wasn’t talking about the sky. He was talking about her. She was the only thing he found pretty, the only thing he wanted. But she could never feel that way about him so he had to pretend he didn’t like her, pretend he wasn’t in love with her.

All he wanted was her.

All she wanted was him.

It’s in on a beach in Maine that Nestor finally allows himself to cry.

You’re three hours into your journey home and you’ve stopped to use the restroom at a nearby gas station. He’d climbed out to stretch his legs and found himself wandering along the rocky promenade, his gaze fixed on the ocean as it crashed against the concrete breakers. He feels the spray of salt on his face and finally something inside him just breaks.

Grief isn’t new to him, he’s seen his share of death, felt it acutely.

But what happened with Miguel, it hits him hard because for such a long time he had thought the other man cared for him, that he was part of this family. It’s only over the past few years he’s learned the truth about the nature of their relationship, how he’s been manipulated for the other man’s needs.

It’s thinking about that email that destroys Nestor. He had known that Miguel hated you but there had always been that uneasy truce, he knew it could only end one way or another, but he hadn’t expected himself to be sacrificed so carelessly. It’s in that moment he realises that he was nothing to the other man, just a pawn for his dealings and it’s that that cuts the deepest. He wipes the tears from his cheeks when he hears you approach.

“It’s ok to grieve him.” You say softly as he tucks his hands into his quilted jacket.

“He doesn’t deserve my tears.” Nestor tells you resolutely.

And you know that deep down in his heart he believes that. The past four days have been an emotional rollercoaster, he needs to take the time to process everything that’s happened, to come to terms with the emotional toll of what you’ve done.

His arm wraps around your shoulders, drawing you close, tucking you in against his body. He closes his eyes as he buries his face into your hair, inhaling the soft scent of your shampoo. There’s such a comfort in you, a stability and security that he craves in this moment because once more his world has been tipped upside down and you’re the lighthouse in the midst of the storm, holding fast, always there to shelter hm.

“Thank you.” He whispers, his lips brushing over your temple. “Thank you for doing that I couldn’t.”

"Nestor!" you scream as you scramble through the house. Running into the bedroom, you slam the door behind you, breathing heavily.

"What're you doing?" he asks, getting dressed. You keep panting, trying to calm down to tell him. "What's wrong?"

"There's...there's," you wheeze. "There's someone in the house. There's someone in the house."

You were doing the laundry, minding your own business when you heard the front door open. Thinking it was Nestor, sneaking out the door without kissing you goodbye, you walked over. The closer you got, the more the pit in your stomach grew. Something was off.

You stood in the kitchen, looking around the house until you saw the figure in the living room. His back was to you and he was wearing all black. Covering your mouth, you stepped quietly to get to the room and alert Nestor.

Taking one small step, the hardwood floor creaked. You stifled out a sob into your hand as he spun around. Staring at each other for a moment, you debated what to do. You bolted, running as fast as you could with the intruder right on your heels.

"What do you mean someone's in the house?" he asks. He hears the footsteps in the hallway and sees the way your eyes grew wide. Putting his fingers on his lips, he grabs his gun and nods away from the door.

You step away, slinking into the corner. You watch Nestor open the door cautiously, gun drawn in front of him. He steps into the hallway, closing the door behind him, your only barrier between the intruder and you. You hear your heart in your ears as you begin to panic.

You try to calm down, taking deep breaths. As you listen carefully, you hear a ruckus. You hear punches landing and Nestor swearing and then you hear a gunshot. You jump out of your skin and out of your corner.

Staring at the door, you hear two more shots. Heavy footsteps fall and get closer to the bedroom door. You panic, diving under the bed. You don't know who was shot and who was still standing.

The door slowly pushes open. The familiar boots step into the room and you let out a heavy sigh of relief. You pull yourself out from under the bed and stare up at Nestor, who is more curious about you getting under the bed.

"What happened?" you ask, seeing the bright red marks along his face. You touch it lightly but he pushes your hand away.

"Don't go out there for a while," he said as he picked up his phone.

"Why? Who are you calling?" you ask. He shakes his head as he speaks into the phone. You take a step toward the door to sneak a look. He reaches out and grabs your arm, pulling you back in. "What're you doing?"

"Don't go out there." He keeps talking on the phone and you still want to know what happened.

When his back is to you, you walk out the door. Around the corner, you see a puddle of blood oozing into the hallway. You keep walking and see the intruder dead where he lay with two bullet holes. You find another bullet hole in the wall across from him.

"What're you doing?" You jump at the sound of Nestor's face behind you. He grabs your arm and pulls you back to the room. "I told you not to go out there."

"You killed him," you state as you are flung onto the bed. You sit up and stare at Nestor. "You killed him in our house."

"I know," he nods. "I was there." You stand up and grab the straps to his gun holster. "What're you doing?" he chuckles. You pull him closer to you so you're pressed against him.

"That's...just the...just about the sexiest thing I've ever seen you do," you breathe, kissing his neck. "I thought I saw the sexiest thing...but...I was wrong." You spin around and push him down on the bed. As you straddle him, you lean down kissing him and down his neck.

"Mi amor," he groans, starting to feel the strain in his pants. "I have to go clean that up."

"No, you don't," you purr, your lips pressed to his throat. "I have to thank my big, strong husband for protecting me before his goons come clean up the mess."

"They're going to be here any minute," he sighs, his voice growing deep.

"Then, we're gonna have to be fast," you whisper.
