Decided to use this bank holiday to jot down a quick idea for a Mordrem Giolladhe (I know it’s been years since HoT but shhhhhh)

It’s more a first draft and still need some tweaking, but I wanted him to encompass Midas, Medusa, and a suit all rolled into one bright, obnoxious mess!

Due to Gio’s design already encompassing some actually alive hair vines, I really wanted to use them in a Medusa like-fashion, so I changed them from vines to venus fly traps, with the two that are most sentient acting as smaller sentries on Gio’s mane, reacting to smaller sounds (such as an asura booking in through the jungle) and give them more snake like behaviour

When it came to the ‘turning to stone’ aspect of Medusa, I actually jumped to a different myth that relates strongly to Gio - Midas. With Gio’s obsession with gold (and the fact we already have an affect in game that turns players to stone), I imagined this would work in a simialr fashion, but with the cosmetic effect of the player going a gold colour - literally turning them to gold.

I imagine, if he were a raid boss, this would only happen during certain phases and have an area affect of ‘all those who are in his line of sight’ - which is where the eyes going from a dark green to a vivid gold would play in

I based his colours more off of a bronze statue, those old sepia photos of Victorian gentlemen, and, after adding the facial markings, a Vatican mask (which I might add to a post HoT Gio!)

I was caught between giving him more muted tones to emphasis the colour shift when he’s turning people to gold and to relate back to his Courtier status; and giving him obnoxiously bright colours

His staff (which needs resizing - I swear my glasses work), would be a cool little item drop for defeating him - and mechanical/lore wise, would be filled with shiny gold plates and glass he’s found and likes to admire his reflection in - for a raid boss, pieces would fall just before he goes to Midas-ify players, and it would be up to someone to snag a piece (which would work like a shield and could be another item drop), and use a skill while in his AoE to freeze him

I’m kinda caught between pressing his design to be more monstrous and keeping it more civil to fit Gio’s personality

If Giolladhe could live a week as any other race, would he take that chance, and if so, which would he pick? - moonlit-grove

OOOH! Good question! My immediate thought was “are Exalted a race?” cuz he would give his left arm to be made of gold

TBH I think he’d go for it - more to sate his curiosity, but as for race? I’m not sure he’d have a preference, as long as he could still be golden and beautiful?
