Being A Girl
Summary: Prom is coming up, which means that the entirety of the feminine seventh year population at Hogwarts has gone mad about dresses. Sophie, not being a particularly shopping-loving girl, has gone with her best friend to Hogsmeade in the hopes of finding something suitable.
Arm in arm, Sophie and Cherry made their way along the high street of Hogsmeade. It was taking all of Sophie's strength to not just go into Honeydukes and buy all of the sweets instead of shopping for a dress. It wasn't that Sophie hated dresses, or make-up, or anything like that. She just wasn't good at shopping for them. It wasn't as bad going shopping with Cherry, because she understood that. James, however, was another matter. He always insisted that she try on everything in every single shop, and it drove her mad. She'd often end up sitting on the floor of the dressing room, refusing to move because she'd had enough.
She loved her brother, really, but sometimes he could be far too much.
But now she had a smile on her face as she looked over at Cherry. "Any ideas on what we're looking for?" she asked. She had no clue herself. She was going to see what she felt good in. If she felt good then she'd look good, right? That was the theory that she went with, and she was sure that her brother would be shuddering at the thought of his sister not finding the perfect outfit for her seventh year prom.
Honestly, what did it matter what she wore when she was going with Peter anyway? She didn't have anyone to try and impress. When they'd announced the date of the prom, and the fact that they'd be setting up a large tent by the Great Lake for it, she'd thought for a split second of what it'd be like to go with Mike. But she'd made a promise to Peter that she'd go with him. Yes, it had been in their fourth year, but a promise was a promise, and Sophie never broke promises... no matter how much she might want to.
