How many items did you guys complete last year??
Team Scrumtrulescent submitted 208 out of 214 items for the 2018 hunt.
Hi! Which is the referrer winner this year? Thanks!
The gish referrer winner was announced on July 19th this year:
You can see Gish’s post from their tumblr here
And now, a word from our sponsor...
What a delight! We’re happy to have brought the wonderful benefits of LIPBOT to the attention of the Gish community on Facebook and Twitter.
We also dove back in to our archives and found some Behind The Gish footage from the creation of this item- our team member’s beloved Lois (of the Feline Discovery Administration, naturally) took some time out of her regularly scheduled sock stealing to investigate LIPBOT. She was less than impressed:
We’ve been terribly remiss and just now realized we didn’t actually post this year’s winner’s announcement! So here, for posterity’s sake, is the Official 2018 GISH Winner and Runner Up announcement!
Congratulations again to all the Runners Up!
(Have you checked out their stuff? You definitely should!
nice trudeaunuts!! How did you find a place to print his photo on the fondant?
Thank you! And it’s not printed- it’s painted! In the words of the teammate who made them:
It’s a 5-layer stencil I made then touched up with a brush. I printed a photo of a painting of Trudeau, then traced it out on acetate to make the stencils, cut them out, lay them over the sugar wafer paper, and painted the food dye on with brushes & sponges. Then I wrapped it in fondant with a frame cut out.
The wafer sheets don’t dry out as fast as fondant, so it’s more forgiving, but the texture doesn’t quite match the fondant. That’s where the crackle effect comes from - the wafer sheets.
PS - the wafer paper tastes like royal icing! You can find it at cake decorating shops. –Jez

Welcome to Team Scrumtrulescent’s Tumblr!
If you’re looking for our items from the 2018 hunt, you’ve come to the right place! If you’d like to view only our item submissions from this year, you can find them all in this tag.
Our team also does something we like to call Behind The Gish. Many of us take pictures and videos throughout the week as we work on our items. We save them up and then post them here, often with stories and explanations written by the team member who completed the item. They’re a glimpse at a bit of the behind scenes craziness that goes on in the completion of these items, and you can see them all in this tag.
Or, if you’d like to look at both our items and Behind The Gish posts from this year, everything from the 2018 hunt can be found in our Gish18 tag.
We’ve got several more tags listed on our navigation page, including several previous hunts, mini gish challenges, and a section for Gish recognition, including tags for our items that have made it in to the Coffee table book, the yearly Gish Hall Of Fame, and ones that have been used in Gish’s social media.
New for this year is our Familiar Faces section, where we’ve listed the tags for some of the unofficial team members. (Our pets. We tagged our pets.)
So welcome again, take a look around, and leave a comment or two if you feel like it!
Thank you for stopping by, and we hope you enjoy!
