Glach Beg
I never thought that before taking stage at my first ever gig I would be sitting in a toilet trying to tune my guitar. This was how I prepared for the first live performance by AlmostFolk. We were playing a 20 minute set at Glach Beg. Due to the weather the event was not as busy as it normally is. The countryside was layered with snow which resulted in many regulars of the event to give the show a miss. As this was our first ever gig we were determined to reach the venue despite the snow, our lack of food and the fact we did not actually know where Glach Beg was. After getting lost a couple of times on the way we made it to the venue and played our set for the small but warm crowd that watched on. We had 4 songs prepared for the set that went down well with the small crowd that showed up. There were minor slip ups from each member of the band but I feel we managed to deliver a worthy performance to the few people that ventured out into the cold to watch the performance. Each show since we have improved greatly. Each crease has been ironed out and we will continue to continue ironing them out as we travel from gig to gig performing our music. The next gig we had was at Celtic Connections in Glasgow which I will cover in a future blog.
