More on the Aelleimene universe trade / barter system? Are things traded for usefulness or raw material? Is there any kind of recycling infrastructure where I can take materials I've been traded that have degraded over time and don't have use anymore? Are there any rules for what can and cant be traded or is it all up for individuals to decide? How do larger organizations with a lot of wealth store it all??
AHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ASK!!! :D
So it very much depends on place to places. Some places do not care if it's raw materials or if it's something useful, where as others will. For example, most grocery stores trade by having you replace what you took in weight plus 3-5 pounds to split with the people who work there; they don't care for the most part what you replace it with (as long as it isn't too degraded). However, fancy restaurants might specify certain types of items that can, or even can't, be traded for food.
As for recycling, there are a few places that will take your old/used up/no longer useful items and make something useful out of it to trade again, although there are times where something's degraded enough that they'll just toss it out (but about 80-90 percent of the time they can fix it). You could also trade them extra to give you back the repaired item, but generally you just give them items, and they'll fix them up to go back into the trading system.
There's not really any *set* rules, but there are some guidelines: Most places will have dirty and clean bins to put them into. It is considered rude not to make an attempt to clean items before trading, especially if they're more worn down/used.
Think of it like this: You've just worked for 5-6 hours, and you get to take X amount of items home. However, someone traded in dishes that still have food stuck to them, you're not going to be happy if that's all there is for you to take. And that's not exactly what the dirty dishes bin is for, it's more for stained dishes/dishes with cracks and stuff, vs. clean dishes that are there for dishes in pristine condition, that are sparkling.
Also there are different bins for different things. So there's bins to trade clothes, fabric, utensils, wooden items, metal items, magnetic items, items that are easy to integrate with Aelleimene usage, etc...
Overflow of items! As you stated, businesses get A Lot of items each day, what do they do with the excess? With what they don't need? Why it goes to the CEOs of course /slightly silly What actually happens is about 15% of excess goes to business rainy day funds (sometimes things happen) and the rest gets split at the top.
Here's how it works, let's say a business gives 3 items that were traded for 1 day of work. First pick goes to the CEOs/Owners of the business, then whoever they've deemed the next most important position(usually someone with a license to use Aelleimene), then the next, until finally ALL employees have gotten their items for the day. Then 15% of any excess (usually rounded up, better safe than sorry) goes to rainy day funds. The other 85% then go back to the CEOs/Owners.
Rainy day funds are stored in business owned storage containers that they have different employees keep organized!
