The only thing he refused to give up or share with anyone.
You knew your husband was mad of course you did. You knew from the moment your eyes met.
Crazy, angry, unmerciful and an emperor.
But with you, he changed. It was as if he was a different man. It often made you wonder which one of him is the real one.
But you had to realize both were real.
His loving and caring side was as real as that of the brutal emperor.
What was worse is that you loved him.
You watched from the sidelines as he and his brother were driving Rome into madness.
And yet, you didn't care.
You loved Geta.
It was supposed to be enough.
"My Sweet Wife," he said as you walked into the palace. He greeted you with a smile, his brother nowhere to be found, thankfully.
"I'm back from my journey."
"How was it?" he asked as he grabbed your hands and kissed your fingers.
"I have found so many beautiful new plants for my gardens."
"If you need more space, we can have a new one built."
"It is fine, I do not need more space, but thank you. I did miss you. How were you while I was away?"
"Terrible! I missed you each and every second. I couldn't find any comfort in our bed. I'm thrilled to have you back." he grabbed your face and you smiled. Hoping for a kiss that soon came.
"How's your brother?" you asked.
"He found a new servant for himself. He has been playing around with him for a while now."
"Do you think it's love?"
"No. I rather say new playthings."
"Oh. I do wish he found someone. He deserves some love."
"Would you do so?" you knew Geta, he shared everything with his brother. But not you.
When they were crowned, Geta made it clear for his brother, they shared the Empire, they shared a home and the throne, but not you.
Never you.
"I love him as a brother. Nothing more. Don't make silly assumptions, Geta." he suddenly hugged you and lifted you off the ground, spinning you around.
You laughed as he placed you down and kissed you once more.
"I'm not sharing you."
"I do hope one day you will change your mind and we can welcome our children." his eyes lit up at the thought as he laughed.
"Now that I'm willing to do." he grabbed your hand and finally walked you to your shared chambers.
It felt so great to finally be home. Even if you did like to visit other places, this is where you were home the most.
Summary: Your marriage was arranged but your love for each other was not.
Marrying him was not in your favour.
He took a liking to you at one of your father's parties and now, you were his wife.
Emperor Geta truly showed his other side to you.
While people saw a raging crazy man, he was kind and sweet with you.
An unmerciful ruler, but a kind husband.
He always made sure you had everything you wanted.
And as your birthday approached, he came to you during the day.
Bursting into the room you currently sat, reading and eating fruit.
"Tomorrow is your birthday, My Darling Wife, I wish to know what it is that your heart desires?" his question was so sudden you froze for a moment.
"I believe I have everything because I have you, My Husband. But I do know you and you mean gifts, I simply wish for cake, you know my love for sweets and if it's not too much a new pet." you ended up saying.
"A pet? What kind? A tiger or lion perhaps?"
"No, nothing like that, I simply wish for a healthy kitten."
"A kitten. Why a cat if I may I ask?" you watched as his face filled with confusion.
"I adore them, and I wish for a small companion to be with me when you can't." His eyes lit up at your words and a smile spread on his lips..
"My Sweet Darling!" he kissed your hand before darting out of the room you smiled at his actions.
He left just as he arrived.
—-
The next morning came, you woke up to your husband missing from his side of your bed, but soon, he entered with servants.
All carried presents for you.
"My Love! This day is special, we celebrate your birth after all! To show my love for you, these are all presents from me."
"Thank you!" you smiled as the servants placed all gifts around you and left, leaving you and your husband who eagerly watched you and waited for your reaction.
You began with a smaller box, it had a beautiful new ring inside.
"To match my own." Geta spoke up and you looked at him, seeing his hand you noticed the same ring on his pinky.
"I really like it. Thank you."
You looked at all the presents which included a lot of different jewellery, dresses and sweet things.
"I really liked everything, Geta. Thank you." you smiled as he waved a finger at you.
"Not everything. Of course, we will hold a party tonight, there will be cake as I promised and I still have one gift for you."
The entire day went by pretty usual.
During the evening as promised, there was a party held in your honour.
You had so many sweets and enjoyed the songs. Your husband was there as you laughed and enjoyed yourself.
Caracalla was another pleasant surprise with his lovely gift. He arranged for you and Geta a lovely bath in a popular bathhouse.
But most importantly, your husband finally gave you your last gift.
"As promised, My Empress, your new pet. Name him as you please." a beautiful white kitten sat in Geta's arms. Such a small and gentle being.
You stood up from your seat and your husband handed you the kitten.
"Thank you, My Love. I'm very happy. Today has been the happiest." you said with a smile and a kiss to your husband's lips.
"It is only the beginning, we still have much wine to drink and we will head to our chambers." he whispered the last part into your ears, and you smiled at him once more.
Summary: He loved to you dress you in gold and jewels. And you loved to give him little pushes in the right direction.
Gold and gems showed status.
Your husband was adamant on the fact that you must have it all.
Geta and you have been promised to one another at a young age.
You two met when you were only children and married when you reached the age his father saw fit.
Not long after your wedding, Geta and Caracalla rose to rule.
And so, you became the Empress.
The people loved you. After you took a visit at the local market and helped a lost child find her mother.
The people saw you as the kind and beautiful Empress.
You were proud, you were in a position many wished to be.
Not to mention, you fell in love with Geta.
All it took was one kind moment.
One moment where he showed some affection towards you.
Genuine affection.
And you were hooked.
He might be a cruel man, but deep down, he was intelligent and collected.
---
You looked at yourself in the reflection you barely recognized yourself.
You were dripping in gold.
Took you a moment to realize, it wasn't only you standing there it was the Empress.
Your jewelry, your dress and even your hair had elements of gold.
It was your husband's request.
Hoping to make you look like a Goddess.
And it worked if you were honest.
You looked stunning, even you could admit that.
With pride filling you, you walked down the hall, your servants following you, adjusting your dress when needed.
Acacius arrived back from yet another successful war.
As you walked outside, Caracalla was already there waiting.
"Ah, Sister! Ever so stunning. My brother is indeed lucky." Caracalla said with a childish laugh.
"You flatter me, Brother." you weren't sure why he insisted on calling you sister, you had no blood relation. But you also didn't mind. Caracalla was so different from your husband. You enjoyed chatting with him.
Your relationship ensured his and Geta's. Being a form of bridge between the two brothers.
Emperor Geta soon joined you, holding your hand he kissed your hand and you smiled at him.
"My Stunning Wife." he said with a voice only you heard.
"My Handsome Emperor."
Soon you three turned as the people of Rome cheered, their beloved General was back.
Standing next to your husband, you couldn't be more proud.
---
Your eyes followed Geta as he walked up and down the room.
Caracalla retired to his room.
"Geta."
"How dare they?! We helped them." he turned to look at you and you smiled at him.
"I don't believe they are the only ones who betrayed you. Macrinus... the look in his eyes." you knew Geta just needed a little push, and you were ready to give it to him. "The way he looks at me... as if he wants me to be his." you watched Geta's eyes change.
It worked.
Your little push to get what you feel best.
"Are you certain?" he asked carefully and you nodded, just give him another little nudge.
"He looks at me as if I was naked. As if he wished I was naked for him." maybe that was too much.
But it worked.
"No one is allowed to look at you like that." he yelled as he put his hand under your chin making you look at him. "No one."
He pulled you in for a kiss.
---
The next day you once again wore a stunning golden dress.
You watched as Acacius and Hanno fought.
In the end, both died at the other's sword.
Causing the people to riot.
"People of Rome! Your Empress wishes to speak!" the announcer yelled and everyone looked at you.
You stood up and walked to stand besides your husband.
"People of the Empire. The Emperors do not take kindly to traitors. As you just witnessed. Your beloved General, who dared to plot a sick plan to kill your Emperors and me. All while I'm with child!" Geta stood up from his seat. "Let us celebrate! The death of our traitors and my pregnancy!"
It took the crowd two minutes before they started chanting.
You calmed them. You took your seat by Geta once more.
"Is it true?" Geta asked as you looked at him.
"No. Unfortunately not."
"Sister! Truly wicked!" laughed Caracalla.
"I needed to say something." you tried to justify your words but Geta understood.
"You might not be pregnant now, but I can help you with that." you laughed a little at Geta's words.
"What about Macrinus?" you asked.
"You will not see him. At least not in one piece." Geta ensured and you pulled on his robes to kiss him.
You might have lied to your people, you might have not been pregnant.
But they didn't need to know that just yet.
For now, all you cared about was your husband and his well-being.
Your golden dress shined in the sunlight as you sat there with Geta. People around you cheering and celebrating.
You might not be a Goddess but you were the Golden Empress.
Summary: You promised to keep him safe. It was part of your job as his wife. And in return, you received his heart and the power you always wanted.
A/N: This contains spoilers for the movie! This is also an AU fiction.
Ever since you were little you had powers.
One might think you were a Goddess. And they wouldn't be far off.
You could hear people's thoughts and control the elements.
Throughout your life, you have perfected these powers.
You hid them well from most people.
But you were unable to hide it from The Emperor.
While you were rather calm, a storm raged inside you. Behind your calm and collected demeanour, you were actually quite the opposite.
Emperor Geta was not like that.
He mostly pretended to be sane, but he truly had no reason to.
He and his brother led an empire that wasn't kind.
But you enjoyed it.
Sometimes, Rome was exactly how you felt on the side.
Rotten to the core.
You liked it.
And you liked the Emperors.
Mostly Emperor Geta.
Who was not shy about showing you just how much he liked you.
His interest in you was beyond interesting.
Of course, he was used to having women around, but you, you were different.
And soon, you became his biggest obsession.
A simple woman he thought you were, but your beauty and wit were undeniable.
It came to you as no surprise that he took a liking to you. What did surprise you, however, was that you also felt the same way.
It's not like you weren't interested in men before, and sometimes even women. But Geta was different.
So different from everyone.
You liked that.
He matched you perfectly.
He claimed you to be his wife the second time you met him.
Your wedding was just as grand as the crowning of the Emperors.
"My Beautiful Empress," he whispered as the priest declared you wife and husband in front of the Gods.
And so, you became the Empress to Emperor Geta.
Emperor Caracalla on the other hand was not as fond of you. He often claimed a dark and cold chill running down his spine whenever he saw you. Little did he know the truth.
Geta fell in love with you.
He liked your cold demeanour and your hidden rage.
He liked you for you.
Not your powers or beauty. Although beauty was a major factor in getting your hand in marriage.
Later on, he found out about your powers when you were attacked one night.
Even his soldiers couldn't stop the angry people who wanted nothing more than to kill.
Geta watched as you murdered them all, with a simple move of your finger all of them fell to the ground.
Your husband found out your true self.
"The Gods sent me a Goddess. A Goddess of my own, My Wife."
Rumours of a Dark Empress began to spread, but that is all they were in the eyes of most, rumours.
There you were, sitting next to him in the Colosseum.
Enjoying the blood and games.
Some gladiators were more promising than the next.
The Emperors enjoyed the games and so did you.
Macrinus sat right behind you, you heard whispers from his thoughts.
A plan.
A sinister plan to overthrow your husband and his brother.
But you smirked, knowing he was not aware of your full potential.
Macrinus truly thought you were going to be the easiest to take out from the bunch. He formed a very complicated plan for the overthrow of the Emperors while he hired men to kill you.
You slightly turned your head and offered him a look. He nodded his head, thinking you were praising him for his newest Gladiator.
You watched as the rhino ran into the wall, grabbing your husband's hand you turned to whisper into his ear.
"I wish to heal the animal."
"Whatever My Sweet Wife wishes." he kissed the back of your hand.
Even if you didn't like people, you loved animals.
After the games, you retrieved into your home, back to your room.
"Crimes are being committed against us. Right in front of our eyes," you said as Geta closed the door behind himself.
"What did you hear?"
"Macrinus has a plot. A sinister and twisted plot. He wishes to rule."
"Treason!"
"I will deal with him. Do not worry yourself with peasants like him, My Love."
"What would I do without you?"
"You would be beheaded." you smiled and he wanted to laugh but the seriousness of your tone changed his mind very fast.
"Will there be blood?" he asked, hope-filled in his voice.
You nodded, and his smile grew.
"Lots of blood. But not ours, nor your brother's."
"Long live the Empress," he said as he leaned in to kiss you, but just as he was about to, you spoke.
"Long live us," you replied before pulling him in for a kiss.
---
The next morning you woke up, and your husband was still asleep.
You headed to the balcony, taking in the smell of smoke.
You grabbed onto the railings, everyone's thoughts filled your mind, and you often found it to be overwhelming.
Hearing everyone's thoughts, some people were louder while others were quieter.
You weren't sure why that was, it was all you ever knew.
Geta's thoughts were usually silent, even his most wicked ones, you used to struggle to be able to read his thoughts until you gave up. It was rare but it did happen from time to time in the past.
You can sometimes hear words from him but not full sentences.
But you didn’t have to hear them to know what he was thinking.
A word you constantly heard was “Beautiful.”
Simple.
Kind.
You love him.
But even with powers like Gods, it could become too much to handle. In those moments, Geta was always there by your side.
As if he knew you needed some reassurance.
And this time was no different.
He soon pulled you close and hugged you from behind.
"Is My Wife happy?"
"I am." you truly were.
"What will you do with Macrinus?"
"I spoke with your brother, and warned him of the plan, I suspect he was too drunk to remember so I sent him a dream. I'm sure he understands, he usually does."
"And what about the Poet Gladiator?"
"Lucius? He claims he wants to free Rome." you turned around in his arms. "But Rome will never be free. During the games today, I have a special plan for the lost prince of Rome." you lifted your hand and ran it through his hair. "I'm sure you will like it."
And he did.
Killing four birds with one stone.
Lucius, his mother, Acacius and Macrinus.
What a delight it truly was.
Unfortunately, the tiger seemed too big of a task for the men, trying to save Lucilla.
A completely normal tiger at that... of course, you had no hand in the matter.
And Macrinus?
For being a traitor, his head was placed by the walls of Rome. Setting an example to all who dare even think about overthrowing the Emperors.
"My Love. My Beautiful Wife." as he stood in front of you, out on your balcony, the moon lit the night as you heard the people or Rome riot, all you could think of was how beautiful his eyes were.
Summary: As an Egyptian Princess, promised to Emperor Geta, your marriage was one of politics, not love. Yet, your unwavering loyalty and possessive devotion soon capture Geta’s attention.
The halls of the imperial palace were silent.
It was here, among the columns and statues of gods long revered, that you found yourself.
You were a foreign princess, an offering of peace. Your father had given you away in exchange for Rome’s protection over Egypt, and now you stood at the side of the Emperor, a man who had never known the need for true loyalty.
Geta was used to sharing.
A kingdom. A mother. A throne. But you, you were his alone.
You were not a woman of many words, but you were kind, dutiful, and above all, fiercely loyal.
Geta had noticed this about you early on, how you never sought attention, how you did not demand the luxuries his station could afford you.
You had accepted your place beside him with grace. Your presence was a soothing contrast to the chaos of Rome’s court.
But there was something else underneath the surface, something that revealed itself the night you killed for him.
It had been a gathering of nobles, an evening of feasting and revelry.
Geta had been speaking with a senator when a woman grew too bold.
She reached for him, touching his shoulder, her voice a sweet whisper meant only for him.
You had been watching. Your expression had remained calm as you moved, the dagger in your sleeve gliding with the ease of one who did not hesitate.
The woman gasped, her hands flying to her throat as blood ran between her fingers.
Silence fell over the chamber as she collapsed, her lifeless body falling to Geta’s feet.
All eyes were on you.
Servants stood frozen. Guards clutched the hilts of their swords, waiting for orders.
Even Geta himself had gone still. But you, you merely wiped the blade against the silk of your dress, your face unreadable.
And then, as if the moment had not just shifted the air in the room, you sat back in your chair and met their gazes.
“Geta is mine as I am his.”
The words carried through the silence like a vow. A declaration. A truth undeniable.
The night ended with whispers, but Geta did not reprimand you.
No, he was fascinated.
His Empress, so composed, so silent in her affections, had just shown the depths of her devotion in blood.
He found himself watching you more closely in the days that followed.
He asked you questions he had never thought to ask before. He asked about your childhood, your beliefs, what you dreamt of in the dead of night.
You answered him with the same quiet honesty, and he listened as though every word was a treasure meant for him alone.
The weeks passed, and his fascination turned into something deeper. He found that he did not like being apart from you. He demanded your presence at his side, whether in court, in his war councils, or in the privacy of his chambers.
He craved your touch, not just in the dark of night but in the light of day, his hand resting against yours, his fingers brushing against your skin. He would wake in the morning and trace the line of your jaw, watching as you stirred beneath his gaze.
It was possessiveness, yes, but it was also love.
And you returned it in equal measure. Your quiet devotion remained unwavering, but now it was matched by his own. You stood together in court, a force unshaken, an unbreakable bond forged in blood and loyalty.
The empire was his, but you-he he belonged to you just as much as you belonged to him.
Love had never been a luxury afforded to emperors.
And yet, as he held you in the dark of the night, his lips at your temple, his arms locked around you as if letting go would undo the very foundation of his world, Geta knew that he had found something far greater than power.
He had found you.
And he would never let you go.

Summary: He bled in your arms once, and now you’re the only one who makes him feel alive.
The first time you saw the emperor bleed, you were elbow-deep in bandages and herbs, the metallic scent of blood clinging to your lungs. You were a healer’s apprentice, no one of note. And he was Geta, ruler of Rome, monarch cloaked in silk and smoke.
And yet, he had looked at you as if you were the sun.
He’d been carried into the physician’s chambers half-dead, poisoned by a treacherous senator whose name you’d never be told.
But his grip on your wrist, weak, had grounded you at that moment. “Don’t let them take me,” he’d whispered to you.
Not to the gods. Not to the wolves of the senate.
You didn’t.
The palace smelled like rose oil and cold stone.
You were hidden there now, a secret tucked away in marble corridors.
The Emperor’s personal ‘shadow physician’ they called you.
But the title meant nothing. You were there because Geta had asked you to be.
You should have been frightened.
But the emperor was different in private. Quieter. Younger than you'd imagined.
He read philosophy by firelight. He asked questions no one else dared ask. He looked at you like he was searching for answers in the curve of your mouth.
One evening, while tending to his healing wound, your fingers brushed his bare skin.
He didn’t pull away.
“I can’t sleep,” he murmured.
“I can brew something-”
“No. That’s not what I mean.”
His voice dropped to a whisper, a confession almost. “I can’t sleep because when I close my eyes, I see you.”
Your heart thundered in your chest. “You shouldn’t say things like that.”
He reached out, gently cupping your wrist like he had that first night. “And if I mean them?”
You looked away.
You were no empress. You were dirt beneath marble floors. But you felt it, the raw, burning truth in his gaze.
The second attempt came in spring.
A blade, a shadow, a coward in the dark.
You found Geta bleeding again, not in the physician’s chamber, but your own. He had come looking for you.
He collapsed at your feet.
“No,” you breathed, catching him before he hit the floor. “Not again. Don’t you dare.”
His blood soaked your hands as you worked. Stitching flesh. Sealing muscle.
Whispering prayers you didn’t believe in anymore.
When he woke, you were sitting beside his bed, tear tracks drying on your cheeks.
“You came back,” he rasped.
“I never left.”
He reached for your hand.
“I have tried to be strong,” he said. “To protect you from what loving me would mean. But I can’t pretend anymore. I am most myself when I am with you.”
You swallowed past the ache in your throat. “They’ll never allow this.”
“Then let them try to stop me.”
You stared at him. The boy beneath the crown. The man who bled like any other. The one who reached for you in the dark.
“You shouldn’t love me,” you said softly.
“But I do.”
And when he leaned forward, lips trembling with hesitation, you met him halfway.
The kiss was soft, reverent, a promise sealed not in blood but breath.
Geta rose before the senate days later with a new decree.
He no longer hid you in shadows.
He no longer called you healer, or physician, or anything but the word that echoed in every heartbeat he had left.
Beloved.
