Friendly reminder. You forgot to update the Navigator with this arcs synopsis. Hey, I got to get my very minor spoilers somewhere XD.

I have been putting off answering asks because I’ve been a bit busy/my computer’s still giving me trouble so I’m trying to stick to essentials.

But this confirmation that someone out there was actually noticing AND enjoying the light spoilers in the Navigator was a blissful surprise xD thank you so much for the ask, definitely lifted my spirits. Minor spoilers are now available, thank you very much for reminding me, and I sure hope I won’t forget to post the next arc’s summary when it’s due (but I’m officially giving you permission to remind me of it, if I do forget to xD thanks!)

Previous ask mentioned a synopsis for one of the upcoming arcs? Is that a public thing and I just cant find jt? Or is that a hidden thing? (Not sure how tumblr works that much. Joined after reading Gladiator and figured out you had one.) Thanks for an answer either way!

It is a public thing, yup! It’s not on this blog, however, but in Gladiator’s blog. To avoid spoilers, I don’t have synopses for all the coming arcs, I only write them for the one that is either being posted or that will be posted soon (such as the Slave Riot arc, which begins in a couple of weeks).

The Navigator is probably the most useful feature in the Gladiator blog, it helps both with showing you guys what to expect in the coming chapters (all the titles for the remaining Part 2 arcs are there, so you can make a few guesses as to what will happen in them), and in separating all arcs properly in case you’re looking to reread one particular story arc. There’s also a list of story highlights right below the arcs, so if you’re wondering, to name one thing, what’s the chapter where Sokka fights Toph for the second time, you’ll find it in the list, linking to the exact chapter where it happened.

With all that being said, here’s the link to the Navigator! Hey, huge fan of Gladiator, I only found it this christmas, but I have been addicted to it ever since. I'm loving the fast updates and the amount of effort you are putting into this story. ATLA is one of my favourite things ever, and Gladiator is even better than the original story imo, I am so impressed. Anyway, I was checking out the navigator page and saw a list of upcoming arcs. The last one on the list is "Return to Shu Jing," is this then going to be the end of the story, or is there more?

The list of upcoming arcs is incomplete, namely because I am prone to changing a few things here and there. For instance, I changed the order in a few of the listed arcs when I last updated them, because after further planning I realized it was better to switch the order of some things. Made for a more coherent story.

So nope, returning to Shu Jing won’t mark the end of the story. By the time I’m near that arc I will have already set in stone the rest of the upcoming arcs (at least, I should have done that by then), hopefully up until the conclusion of Part Two. And after that comes Part Three, the final one.

I guess that can still be a little confusing. Still, if you were looking at the navigator, you must have seen that I’ve organized the story in three parts. It’s only a theoretical division, I’m keeping the full story in a single entry as it has been all along, but I thought it was for the best to split it this way, if just for my own sake xD it is a pretty huge story, so it’s easy to get lost in it. The division really helps to keep it organized.

So yep, we’re currently around the middle of Part Two! Which means that we still have the entirety of Part Three waiting for us. There’s going to be a lot more to go for this story, I built up a slightly huge variation of the Avatarverse and there’s a lot that needs to be addressed before the story can be wrapped up. I hope you’ll stick around and enjoy as I do my best to bring the rest of the story to life :) Thanks again for the ask!

Uhhh, kinda awkward to remind you again, but the navigator behind again, hehehe. Seriously though, given how inactive you are on here I hope you're doing okay over there. Some of the stuff I've read about what's happening in your country sound pretty wild.

Honestly at this point I should just dub thee with the title of navigator reminder or so :'D it actually helps for you to reach out like that.

And yeah, things are chaotic and worrisome... but I'm trying to stay sane while hoping it'll tide over for the better. For once. Just the one time. That's all we ask...

Do you have the rest of Gladiator planned out? If so how many arcs and/or chapters are left, roughly. I feel like we're entering the endgame now.

Gladiator's been fully plotted for... a long time now, haha. I'm not even sure when exactly I fully outlined Part 3 but I know it was several years ago. On top of this? I write in advance, so I'm currently around 30-ish chapters ahead of release. As life's grown busier, my advantage over release has decreased quite a bit, unfortunately for me... but hopefully I'll get to the finish line with some time to spare, haha.

At any rate! If you'd like to see the number of remaining arcs, the easiest way to do it would be to head over to Gladiator's Navigator. Scroll all the way down and you'll see how many there are left to go (spoiler: 11 arcs, actually... out of which I've got to finish the last three). I wouldn't say we're fully in the endgame yet... but I think we could call it that after business in Yu Dao concludes.

how many chapters will part 3 have? will it be as long as part 2? Or the shortest of the 3 parts 🥺🥺

Well... I usually don't answer such questions because I never know how long anything is going to be, my life is funny and sad that way. I mean, I used to tell people Part 2 was bound to be shorter than Part 1 and... look how the turn tables, right? :')

So... let's see if we can reach some conclusion when it comes to the likely length of the still-being-written Part 3 if we compare its current stats with those of the previous two parts.

Part 1:

Chapters: 100/100

Arcs: 13/13

Part 2:

Chapters: 147/147 (129 posted so far)

Arcs: 25/25 (24 posted so far)

Part 3:

Chapters: 46/???

Arcs: 7/33 (yep, the whole story is outlined but I don't know how many chapters we'll have per arc so I can't give a serious number for expected chapters yet :'D)

Now, let's factor in that arcs can be of variable length, of course. Most arcs in Part 1 are much longer than the arcs of Part 2, but even in that case, Part 2 has a LOT more arcs, almost twice as many, which results in almost 50% more chapters than Part 1 had.

So... I'm not saying for sure that Part 3 will be longer than everything else? But the odds suggest it will be veeeeery long, hence why I'm willing to speed up the update rate and do weekly updates instead once we get there :'D otherwise, you guys and I will be here for about 20 more years which, you know, doesn't sound terrible? Maybe we should be here for 20 more years after all... (?)
