German car-maker Glas ran into financial difficulties in the mid-1960s and was taken over by BMW in 1966, primarily to access the Dingolfing company’s production facilities (now BMW's largest single plant). Carrozzeria Frua had worked with Glas and prepared a fastback version of their V8 coupé. Presented at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show, after the takeover, Pietro Frua hoped BMW might still want to put the BMW-Glas 3000 V8 Fastback Coupé into series production, but they never did.
