kevin survived after being shot, but was recaptured by dr staple, who proceeded to brainwash kevin and wiped the recent years clean from his mind. so to him, the incident at work never took place and therefore nothing triggered the horde to bring the beast about. this was done so he would no longer be a threat, but that would mean that he, and the other 23 identities, won't know who casey is.
