He finds himself frowning at the young woman in front of him, his heart pounding erratically inside of his chest as his mind wandered through the numerous thoughts floating through. Something swells are her words and James carefully bites his lower lip in thought, wondering how he could already begin to prove to Lily’s family that he’s not the man she probably mentioned whilst they were growing up. And even now, there’s a part of James that is resentful over Lily’s words, even though she doesn’t mean anything by them.
