The snow that fell earlier this week was still hanging around in the Ochils yesterday, and coupled with clear blue skies and crystal clear visibility it made for a memorable jaunt around Glen Sherup. After at least five years of generally wet and mild winters where cold outbreaks have been the exception rather than the norm, this winter really does feel different. Instead of being mild with cooler blips, it has been cool with mild blips. It's the winter that keeps on giving! :)
Geologically the Ochils, which are traditionally viewed as being the lumpy hills that rise between the Firth of Forth and the A9, actually extend eastwards far into Fife before petering out at the Firth of Tay. Seemingly with one foot in the lowlands and one in the highlands, the views from their summits are typically immense :)
Much of the area around Glendevon has been revitalised by The Woodland Trust, who have planted millions of native trees on a landscape scale across three glens.
I went to say hello to Chad while he was laying down because I made him be my Best Friend(TM) He's been having trouble with anxiety the last few weeks but a bit of consistent clicker work had him approaching us in the field and letting us rest against him while he had a snooze :3
There was lovely airy ridge walking on the Glen Sherup horseshoe today. The glen is in Perthshire but once you get up above its head you're over the border into Clacks, and as usual there were massive views south from the Ochils :)
Not before time......WOOLLY HAT WEATHER IN THE LOWLANDS!!! :) :) :)
Trekking was beautiful but oh man I'm glad to be back to civilisation. Once I get back to the flat I will begin my transformation from Filthy Field Monster to Human again XD This is me and Cicero coming to the top of Ben Shee
