My eyes lit up when I saw Kampung Mee/Sarawak Mee on the menu of Kampung Style Malaysian Cafe (145 West Coast Road, Glen Eden). The description befits the famous Sarawak Kolo Mee: dry noodles tossed in special chef sauce, served with prawns, fish cake, BBQ pork & pork mince. I declined the prawns. The description didn't quite fit the actual dish but I’m glad they made an attempt. I had a nostalgic Teh Tarik which was accompanied by a Hup Seng Cream Cracker. Glen Eden on a Friday night brings back memories when I was at art school and I stayed with the Andreassend family on Pleasant Rd, Titirangi. A Friday late night excursion to Glen Eden was like a booby prize, it meant we weren't going to Lynn Mall and if we were very studious, the (then glittering) St Lukes Mall. Kampung Style occupies the other side of the Glen Eden Train Station. It's such a train spotting location. On Friday night, the trains arrive and leave regularly, each time announced by the (muted) train sirens. The station is indeed a busy place indeed. The restaurant is full. It's a very happening place. #kampungmee #sarawakkolomee #tehtarik #hupsengcreamcrackers #kampungstylecafe #glenedentrainstation #westcoastroad #instamalaysian (at Kampung Style Malaysian Cafe 馬來鄉味館)
