Forever blessed and grateful
for all that has happened in my life thus far. The bad, good, the certain, uncertain, the said, unsaid n’ all else in between, etc. The more I experience the more I am convinced things truly happen for a reason. I am extremely blessed that I have the opportunity to attend CSULB, one of the top universities of the CSU system. I am blessed to have worked at chipotle that took care of me for almost two years, blessed I was given a short internship by ASAS an organization that promotes youth enrichment and organization. Most importantly, I am blessed with great company of loving family and supportive friends. Though it was difficult to see at the time, through the blood, sweat, and tears, I see the bigger picture now and it gives me great sense of satisfaction to see how far I have come. But the journey is not yet over, self-development and growth never ends. And I believe it is this notion that keeps the light in me from extinguishing altogether. Faith, confidence, and trust in both me and universe are all key to perseverance and self-revelation. I am only what I make of myself and I know there are many aspects of myself I could not explore with the distraction of school and work. I feel that now is the perfect time to take a break from work and school and focus on me. As much as people are baffled that I am taking a break from work and school I am making this decision for nobody else but myself. I strongly believe a life worth living is one that an individuals consciously chooses to live. I believe life is worth more than a series of passive decisions and one that shouldnt go against the very essence of human existence. Isn’t the point of human life to experience, to feel, to understand? Emotions and feelings are the driving force in life and without them I could only imagine feeling like an empty vessel in space– lifeless and unimportant. My urge to feel needed, important, and appreciated stem from my very own talents, interests and passions. Knowing myself and truly understanding myself will only help me feel in this journey of self-revelation and fulfillment all the while creating the destiny I was meant to live. And I believe that, in the midst of achieving ‘more important’ things in life, is a lesson that I have overlooked and has yet to make to the textbooks– hopefully one day changing the worth/ value individuals place on today’s education system.
