In the hills of St Ann abides a #farming community called York Castle, located in Claremont. It is in this same community that Shania Williams is growing, learning, and influencing. Williams grew up in a family that was not rich and, as a result, her parents placed much importance on #education as they knew it was the only way to change their circumstances. Williams attended primary school in her community, York Castle Primary School, before matriculating to Ferncourt High School, where she completed mainly arts-based subjects. Nattecia Bohardsingh has led a very interesting life which can be summed up by the quote, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” Throughout her journey, and what she is yet to experience, one thing is apparent: most of her life experiences are filled with instances where she surprised herself by excelling at things that she did not know she could do. Born and raised in the community of Granville, St James, Bohardsingh, an attorney-at-law and legal support officer, Jamaica AIDS Support for Life, describes a life that is quite different from the community riddled with violence, as featured on the nightly news. Johnique Duhaney has been making many lives better with the inception of her #tutoring business, Tutor Me Please. Tutor Me Please offers one-on-one tutoring sessions for high-school students from grade seven to the upper sixth-form level. The services are offered in a wide range of subjects, including #mathematics, English language, accounts, #Spanish, English literature, #chemistry, biology and physics. Like many other #teenagers, Alishka Fletcher, dreams of greatness. The 17 year-old student of the Randolph Lopez School of Hope, is determined to become a #culinary master despite her limitations. With a beam in her eyes and a broad grin, Fletcher shared the story of how she discovered her love for cooking. “My father is a chef and I want to be as good as him one day,” said the young dreamer. Fletcher attributes her cooking skills to the time spent in the #kitchen with her dad preparing meals for the family. “I love making dinner with my daddy.
