Study Abroad at Lehigh!
“I’m glad Lehigh offers shorter study abroad programs. I got to fulfill my dream of going to Ireland and it was worthwhile because I also got experience in the lab.”
Brianne Barker’s summer experience at the National University of Ireland allowed her to work side-by-side with leading researchers in microbiology working to develop eco-friendly ways of generating energy. Lehigh offers several faculty-led study abroad programs each summer.

How did you spend your summer vacation?
Lehigh's Iacocca Institute developed and ran a six-week Academic and Leadership Institute in Business and Entrepreneurship for 25 Mandela Washington Fellows. The Mandela Washington Fellowship Institute at Lehigh followed weekly themes: Innovation and New Business Development; Project Management, Collaboration and Team Leadership; Intersection of Business and Social Sectors/Cross Sector of Leadership and Organization; Regulatory and Trade Considerations/Financing Strategies; Leadership Skills: Negotiation and Influence; and Delivering Value and Impact: Servant Leadership. A packed agenda featured interactive entrepreneurship and design sessions; leadership development and team building; a wide range of site visits; hands-on workshops; community service at organizations in around South Bethlehem; cultural exchange; executive roundtable experiences; trips to Philadelphia, New York and Washington, D.C.; and a collaborative consulting project. Each Fellow developed a customized learning and action plan, and experts from on- and off campus as well as Lehigh alumni facilitated sessions on business, entrepreneurship, leadership, ethical decision making and cultural awareness. The Institute also included extensive networking opportunities with leaders in industry, government and the nonprofit sector.

Farren Leung ‘18 is majoring in Finance & Business Informations Systems @lehighbusiness. She was looking for an opportunity that combined travel with real work experience. During her internship at the PAR Business School in Croatia, she did market research and created proposals, all while learning about a new country and professional culture.
“When you intern abroad, you learn how to work in a professional environment and how to communicate and collaborate with people from different backgrounds. The experience taught me to be more open-minded and flexible. I can adapt quickly to new situations now.”

Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, celebrates the coming of spring and the triumph of good over evil. Lehigh students celebrated today on the UC lawn with a large color fight featuring 800 pounds of dry color.
We can’t get enough of the 30th Annual International Bazaar! Huge thanks to the Office of International Students & Scholars for organizing a great event! If you are on campus on 4/29, be sure to come to the Holi festival. It starts at 2 pm on the UC lawn.
It’s the 30th annual International Bazaar! Students and local Bethlehem residents gathered on the UC Front Lawn to celebrate the many cultures and nations represented at Lehigh. The event, organized by the Office of International Students & Scholars, featured performances, games and food from around the world.
Natalie Maroun `21 is one of the Lehigh study abroad students who returned earlier than most. She is part of Lehigh’s “Dear COVID-19″ class, taught by Professor Karen Rodriguez, which has been adapted in light of current events to be a space for study abroad students to talk about their experiences.
Natalie recently gave Lehigh and Professor Rodriguez the kindest shout-out on Twitter to say thank you for giving students a space to talk about their experiences (good and bad) with others who are going through similar issues. Natalie, we’re so very glad you chose to be a Mountain Hawk!
