Get Ready for Gala 2017!

June has officially started and you know what that means… Gala fever is in full effect! 

Global Tassels invites you to join us, along with family and friends, to celebrate our 3rd Annual Founder’s Gala on June 30th at India House Club, New York City. Every year Global Tassels dedicates a night of celebration to honor the efforts of fellow organizations and individuals that strive to create a positive impact on the world we live in. Along with recognizing hard work and celebrating a philanthropic bond, our Founder’s Gala will raise funds that help Global Tassels continue its journey to spread the importance of higher education & inspiring communities through our operations.

Some of you have read and heard about our previous Annual Founder’s Gala, The Power of One, and Piecing It All Together, which is great! But this time refrain from suffering extreme FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and join the festivities. We would love for you to experience this special night. It is a night that celebrates everyone. It is a night that brings people together. It’s a night for braving the quest for change.

How GT Works

We shared the mission and goals of our organization. We took you along some of our travels and special events. You were introduced to our projects and initiatives. Now, see how our organization works.

Meet Karen 

Karen was selected as Global Tassels’ first Student Leader from Colombia. She is from a town called Somondoco in Boyacá. Her relentless personality and determination played a vital role in her selection as a GT Student Leader. As an organization, it is our aim to see students like Karen succeed and achieve their dreams through the power of education. This is our approach and introduction of one of our admirable Student Leaders, Karen.

To assist her prior to attending a university, Global Tassels raises up to $220 a month to pay for her English Language Training.

Proficiency in the English language is important in a university setting as well as in everyday interaction. Global Tassels raises funds for Karen’s English classes to enhance her communication skills and develop a comprehensive English language background. Breaking down a language barrier allows our students to express themselves even more as well as instilling confidence in the way they communicate. Karen has made tremendous progress with the help of her classes and continues to excel in the English language.

GT’s role is to enroll Karen into one of GT’s partner institutions in her country or in the United States. For FREE!  

Global Tassels will be the bridge that connects our Student Leaders to higher education. The organization and its partners work together to have all expenses covered for our Student Leaders. It is a collaborative effort to not only enroll the students but to guide them through the process and provide the tools they need to succeed.

While Karen is studying English, GT requires Karen to participate and lead a community project based on at least one of 17 different Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the SDGs.

As an organization, we are very much part of the fight to end poverty, which affect the most vulnerable members of our societies, primarily the youth. The Sustainable Development Goals address the issues the global community face today and offer solutions to a brighter future. Global Tassels will work with Karen in finding a SGD she is passionate about. We want our students to be part of the solution and really create a positive impact on their communities. Fulfillment of an SGD means a step in the right direction.

Global Tassels as an organization focuses their mission on goal 4: Quality Education.

We continue to believe that knowledge is power. A quality education is what unlocks one’s true potential. Global Tassels’ focus on Goal 4 has lead us to find students like Karen. That is why our mission holds strong to providing college education to underprivileged youth.

In addition to supporting Karen's English Training, Global Tassels also raises funds to support these community projects. The funding ranges from $50-$150 a month.

Currently, Karen teaches a classroom full of students valuable life lessons using a theological approach. Through education, she guides and empowers the youth in their walk of life. Karen’s work with the youth in her community reflect the heart of Global Tassels’ vision. She is creating an impact with her experience, knowledge, and passion. With the help of Global Tassels, Karen will be able to build a comprehensive plan to continue her work with the community in satisfaction of the an SDG.

Once Karen graduates from a four-year college, Global Tassels, Local NGOs, as well as supporters like you, will help her in leading and building a community project. The purpose of our Student Leaders’ projects it to spark positive change in their communities. 

With this cycle, GT achieves their promise to Karen, to the SDGs, and to Global Tassels' vision. This is what we call Leading Change Together.

Change is not easy. It doesn’t happen over-night and requires a lot of work. But that is why we have each other. Karen, Global Tassels, partner organizations, and you are a part of the journey. It’s the reason why we call it Leading Change Together, because TOGETHER is the most effective way. Education is the gift that keeps on giving and as long as we can inspire others to continue the cycle, this gift will never end.

Finally, as a Global Tassels Ambassador, Karen will become a voice of change for her community, her country, and for GT students from Colombia.

With hard work and determination anything is possible. Karen represents what we see all of our GT Student Leaders to be. There are so many people who are deprived of the opportunities to higher education, to a brighter future. It is Global Tassels’ duty to alleviate that gap and give hope to the younger generation. The support and guidance that Global Tassels provides allows students like Karen to be the change agents the world needs. The work of Global Tassels, partners, and students do not only benefit an individual, but an entire community.
