E is 100% gonna blush EXTREMELY hard over the “weirdly hot robots” line, isn’t he? If not in the moment, then that night(day?) when he wakes up after processing it.

oh for sure, absolutely yeah <3 perhaps not in the moment because E is having a Really Rough Time up to that point in the episode and there's probably too much going on in his head to fully process what she said. but you can absolutely bet that for days after the fact he was laying awake like this

Hi, I'm sorry if this comes off as weird but I just wanted to let you know that I adore E. I am always happy to see the robot on my dash and I am always excited to learn more about him, especially his dynamics with other characters. Seeing E on my dash is what gave me the courage to fight the fear of being cringe and make MD ocs of my own, and now they're my most beloved and well-made ocs. I could go on but point is, I like them I find them such a neat and interesting character. Thank you for making him. Be cringe be free. Again, so sorry if this sounds weird.

hey, this doesn't come off as weird at all. in fact this is very sweet and thoughtful and i really appreciate it. i'm so glad that seeing my special robot helped you make your own special robots.

i admittedly very often still get in my own head about sharing stuff about E for a variety of reasons-- i still feel soooo much shame and embarrassment whenever i want to indulge selfship stuff specifically-- but it's a feeling i try to fight because E/NUzE makes me happy and i'm slowly learning that i am allowed to make things that make me happy, and you do too!

i will always be cheering and clapping for fandom ocs and self inserts because they're literally fun!! and, personally, the only way i can really have fun with something i like is if i can make A Guy to plop in the universe, and MD specifically lends a lot that can be explored imo. primo oc creation stuff right here. not to mention that it's literally the be cringe be free show. so be cringe and free!! anyone who talks shit isn't worth it anyway!!

Gotta say, I ran into E on Toyhouse and I love him. There is just something utterly sad and twisted about someone being hurt by the Solver through their own faith. And, E with Uzi and N is adorable. Just what the poor boy needs.

aw, thank you so much!! i made E (in-part) to explore my own feelings and experiences re: religious trauma and everything that comes with the pressure of being good enough for a divine being. murder drones gives a fair amount to chew on in terms of religious imagery, which is great for someone like me <3. with cyn/AS and the DDs especially, there's a lot of potential for the god/angel dynamic at play i think- so it's pushed to an extreme with E.

I cannot tell you how much the line "Patron saint of never growing old" is such a sad and tragic line and it pops into my head whenever I think of Tessa now. I love your work and that's such an amazing line

that means so much to hear thank you. <3 as much as i genuinely love any and all fan content where she's brought back in some way, i truly think tessa's role is the most meaningful if she remains dead.

maybe im just too tragedy-brained, but to me her death is a symbolic and literal representation what cyn/the solver took from the disassembly drones. the "it was supposed to be a normal day" part of grief/trauma taken to its extreme. how something (someone in this case) so pure and dear and important can never be given back- and can only take form as a rotting corpse of itself that stains every good memory it once represented with bile and blood. thats why tessa's physical appearance being a mystery until the cynessa reveal really resonates with me, anyway. we can never know what her smile looked like when she was alive, what she would've been without her parent's influence, who she wanted to be. to us, she only exists as a patron saint of never growing old.

I'm curious, during the manor era--what was E's relationship with everyone? (ex. J, V, Tessa, etc.)

Especially due to you saying they are meant to mirror J in some ways.

OH YAY YIPPEE im excited to talk about this. <3

so to start, E was completely mechanically functional when Tessa found them at the dump. he was just laying in a pile of scraps waiting for his charge to drain. when Tessa found him he was insistent that she wouldn't want him because he's broken "in ways that cant be fixed." obviously Tessa wouldn't stand for that and took them in anyway. E gently protested with her nearly the entire way back to the manor but eventually gave in. and, shamefully, they were quietly relieved that they didn't have to die just yet. E never told her why exactly he was thrown out due to a mix of heavy repression and fear of it happening again; if they DID tell her, she wouldn't have put him in a maid dress LOL. a brief overview of his personality during his time in the manor is overly polite and obedient, while keeping to himself and his duties. he spent a lot of the time in the garden and generally avoided humans when he could, especially Tessa's parents.

as for relationships!! i’ll put this part under the cut bc im embarrassed at how long it is LOL

Tessa: E cared about Tessa a lot; she was pretty much the first human they interacted with that treated him as a person rather than a tool for humanity. this sort of care was something E was very much not used to, and it confused him a lot. they tried resisting her attempts at getting him to hangout with her and the rest of her inner circle of drones (that being J, V, and N of course) on the basis of "not having earned it," but Tessa was stubborn, of course. E was very very grateful for everything she did for him and did everything he could to not disappoint her (an expectation he put on himself, mind you).

N: N was the first to introduce himself to E once he got settled, and was also the first to be able to ease him out of his "i need to be perfect" front. E was closest to him during his time in the manor, and they often did things like draw together. E for sure had feelings for N at this point, but was repressing that shit HARD. he was also aware of V and N's feelings for each other at the time and felt very guilty for feeling the way that he did despite that. E and N were very close up until about a month before the gala massacre, when E very suddenly and inexplicably pulled into himself and became very distant. this hurt and confused N a lot, of course. E retained this distance for years- even after the manor- up until the events of the show, where that gap finally begins to mend.

V: putting manor era V and E in a room is like putting two frightened fawns who are unfamiliar with each other in an enclosed space. eventually it turns out fine, but for a little while they're kinda just staring at each other with big scared eyes with no idea what to do with their bodies otherwise. the only reason why they started talking and, eventually, befriended each other was because it was N who introduces them to each other. while E wasn't as close with her as they were with N, they still enjoyed her company a lot and liked talking to her. E's very sudden distance hurt V a lot, which manifests into resentment on her end post-gala. (it turns out fine eventually but!! yknow!! lotsa bad stuff happened here and a lotta feelings come out of that)

J: E was mostly afraid of her frankly lol. he didn't really try to befriend her outside of just doing whatever she told him to when it came to maid-related stuff. most of the parallels between them during this time, to me, is both of them having an innate need to obey and do as they’re told despite how different their personalities are otherwise.
