He blinks, a little surprised at her reply yet nonplussed too. Zelda is playful but she’s also direct, her texts being the perfect example.

[SMS] –> Zee:  You better be ready for me… Morrison is still in cargo pants, boots, and a black compression t-shirt. Sometimes, he sleeps in them because he still has bad dreams and the feeling that he’ll need to run at any given moment.

But not tonight.

Grabbing a his bottle of whiskey from the table, he takes it by the neck and heads off to Zee’s quarters. It’s an invitation he didn’t expect, but welcomes and maybe needs.

Zelda doesn’t find many reasons to deny herself the things she wants. There’s no point in beating around the bush - that doesn’t get you anywhere. His response text makes her grin and she puts her phone aside, leaning back on her bed. She wonders what it is that he’s gonna bring, if anything.

It takes a few minutes, but there’s a knock on her door after a bit. She opens the door, stepping aside to let him in with a smile.

“Hello, Jack.”

She wears only a long t-shirt, and there’s a hint of something black underneath, hugging her hips, but it’s not enough to be seen just yet.

They might also note how interesting it is that many of Balderich’s most promising recruits all seem to share family trees with very recent roots that vanish into the flurry of military secrecy that surrounds a small number of special forces personnel and an ostensibly failed experiment from the late 80′s. Reinhardt is aware of none of this.

Pros - Jesse

They have history together, and Jesse appreciates and respects that. He knows how to treat Jack because Jesse was there for a lot of what formed who Jack is now.

He’s outdoorsy, like Jack, so they’d be comfortable together.

With how much Jesse loves writing himself, he’d be an excellent audience for Jack’s novels, no matter how cheesy!

Cons - Jesse

There’s a risk of small moments of resentment, from Jesse’s lingering love and loyalty for Reyes.

On a similar note, Jesse isn’t completely capable of understanding the bond Reyes and Morrison had between each other.

Jesse’s eager to become physical quickly, which might cause some silent, internal frustration in early days while Jack warms up to him.

Pros - Hanzo

He’s got a great ass tbh. Bless.

Hanzo is nomadic as well, never particularly attached to one place. He wouldn’t struggle to follow Jack on the move.

He can defend himself easily so he won’t a liability.

Cons - Hanzo

Like Jesse, Hanzo is also a physical person, and gets antsy when physical acts of affection aren’t reciprocated quickly.

He had a very different upbringing to Jack and Hanzo isn’t particularly good at sympathising. Or at being sympathetic.

I can’t think of a Jack-centric third con so uh. He doesn’t have a pet dog, That’s a pretty big con.

I haven’t really known how to reply to this because it’s such a kind message.

You’ve been kinder to me now and in the past than perhaps I might deserve and I’ll never know how to repay you and others for your kindness.

I know to listen to the people who matter and to ignore the detractors but sometimes it’s hard, especially because things have been so... hectic lately. I’m trying to hold onto things and trying to find the good but I’m having trouble accepting what’s going on and it’s stopping me from moving forward.
