UNIVERSE

Leather
This weekend, celebrate the Women’s March. To celebrate the indomitable spirit inside every woman, and in recognition of that spirit being unleashed in this weekend’s historic Women’s Marches, Atria Books is making seven remarkable books available for free download to everyone in the continental U.S. from Friday, January 20, through Sunday, January 23. Funny and heartbreaking, beloved classics and new voices, fiction and nonfiction—they are all stories of strong women overcoming adversity, taking second chances, and sharing their authentic voices with the world.
Polaroid portrait 102/1000
Polaroid technology isn’t always predictable. I think Doug Owens might appreciate the analogue qualities of this photo. Doug is one of my favorite bass players ever. I first saw him on a dark and stormy night back in 2007 when his old band, Madraso, played a show at the original Crocodile. These days he’s creating serpentine low-end riffs in Glose. When you find out he’s a college math professor, suddenly those crazy time signatures make sense.
