in honor of january and all things renewing, I wanted to make a little moodboard to get me ready for this upcoming spring semester!! ive also been thinking of turning this moodboard thing into a series? like maybe make a study/motivation moodboard series? just something to consider
originally I was going to make a moodboard that was indian-themed but one thing led to another and i just made it fairytale-themed....sort of....haha. Ever since coming back to school, I’ve had trouble sleeping these days so I’ve been reading foreign fairytales and listening to the Myths and Legends podcast.

Hello!! So I’ve never been a math person (I know that’s a poor attitude but I just really prefer the humanities A LOT more). Unfortunately, as a business major I’ve lately been feeling like math classes keep haunting me. ;; which is why I made this little guide!! Okay, to be fair, a more accurate title would be “How to Ace Math Tests (if you hate math with a passion)!” But uh, I scrapped that title bc it was too long and ruining the aesthetic lmao. Also, as a side note, this guide is based largely on my business stats class but also on previous math classes like calc, algebra, geometry, etc. And as another sidenote!! This guide is meant for a timeframe of over a week lmao
SO! Let’s begin!!
Go to class : Okay so even though math bores you to death or whatever, you’re––sorry––gonna have to attend class. It’ll leave a good impression on your professor (and trust me, professors can be end-of-semester lifesavers), make you take the class more seriously, magically facilitate your absorption of the material, clear your pores, water your crops, etc.
Take notes : Only if necessary. Sadly, my stats professor is really confusing during class, so I usually supplement his lectures with my own notes from the textbook. But some classes take really good notes during class-time so that’s neat too. My advice on notes is to star whatever your professor says will be on the test, highlight ALL formulas/theorems, and mark whatever questions you have. As long as you have (good yet concise) notes, you’re gold.
Do the homework : JUST. DO IT. And i don’t mean copy the answers from the back of the book!! This is going to be the hardest part, but that’s the point. As you do the homework, you’ll be directly practicing for the test. AND THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: make sure you mark every problem you get wrong or don’t understand!!! usually i put a cute dot next to the wrong problems and a cute post-it (with my question lol)
For wrong problems, keep redoing them until you get them right : I highly recommend you redo the problems over and over and over. I usually practice on a whiteboard because I redo these problems like at least two times. Honestly, this part is what gets me to ace the test bc most likely, the hardest problems/the problems you struggle with, will be on the test. Also, doing this will help you realize your weaknesses of the chapter, thus heightening your awareness of where you tend to mess up.
For confusing problems, ask the professor/tutor : Usually I don’t have time to ask during class so I instead go to office hours and ask. Or sometimes, if you have a tutor, just ask them instead! sidenote: if you’re struggliing a lot, sometimes it’s best to just get a tutor! Most schools I know offer free tutoring services so check it out bc its part of your tuition anyways!
NIGHT BEFORE TEST CHECKLIST! : I tend to do steps 1-5 throughout the two weeks before my exams bc I’m just a dork like that, and on the night before my exams I usually get test anxiety so I try to keep my needed studying minimal ;; on the night before, I will redo the problems, read my notes (hey, you took those notes for a reason, right?), read my lecture notes (v helpful bc in my lecture notes, I’ll write which points the professor says will be on the test), redo my problems, single all important formulas from notes (sometimes I do this by rewriting, sometimes I just memorize it from my notes), and did I say redo problems? If your professor releases a practice test/list of exam topics, I highly recommend skimming over it at least and focusing on whatever parts you don’t fully grasp.
AND LASTLY. SLEEP. EAT. RELAX. : Seriously. You’ll be fine, and at the end of the day, it’s just a dumb test lol. If you ever have test anxiety and need someone to talk to, just shoot me a message or pop by my inbox!! Or if you need someone to tell at you to study for your dreaded math tests, feel free to message me for that too lol. OR if you need someone to cheer you on!!! Or if you want to tell me about your success in math!!! lmao seriously, kiddos, feel free to message me~
ANYWAYS that’s all I have to say so GOOD LUCK YALL WILL BE OKAY! EVEN IF YOU DESPISE MATH LIKE ME YOU CAN STILL DO WELL I BELIEVE IN YALL
Hi, so I clearly haven’t posted in awhile whoops. And the reason for that this time is because May was extremely busy (finals, transfer notifications, depressive episode, moving out, business trip). And now, I’m trying to get back into posting for my studyblr, which is kind of hard too since I’m in Beijing for an internship now....
This is still very tentative but I might start posting once a week on this blog (just look under my glossie tag)! I really want some consuming summer project because lately I’ve been feeling this simmering feeling of anxiety : / hmmm usually my anxiety gets lessened when I dedicate myself to a project (so far I’m thinking of starting a bujo, trying a studyblr challenge, collecting easy recipes, writing another video game, writing a ya novel, finishing fanfics, etc.).
Also as a heads-up, I’m pretty sure upcoming posts this summer will be more along the lines of posts talking about my current thoughts (kind of like a diary entry), posts about me attempting to adult (like cooking new recipes), posts about my recommendations (for movies or podcasts or yeah).
Thanks for listening! Hopefully I post more in the future!!
