i think that if i ever wrote a fic where harry was captured by the dark side (like hes not joined them but is their captive/hostage) and voldy knows harry is a horcrux i wouldnt have harry and voldy interact. i understand that usually authors like to have them interact so they can show the audience their interpretation of voldy and his motives but i really dont think voldy would interact with harry like at all. also from the prophecy like having to kill the other so that one could live like if voldy knew then he’d just never meet up with harry right? idk maybe im just half asleep but i really dont get forcing voldemort to interact with harry when it makes no sense for voldemort to do so. like it would be a waste of effort for him especially when he knows the prophecy and hes not completely sure what harry is capable of and he knows harry will kill him. like the most logical would be to keep harry safe but at a distance, never interact with him.

idk i dont think id ever write a fic like this its just not me, but what do u guys think??

a random Drarry thought I wanted to share is that when it comes to writing them in a “dark romance” setting, I’d always imagine Harry fitting the Stalker role (who could’ve known 😂) and Draco fitting the unsuspecting object of their affection role. Because of that I always find it a bit jarring when dark fic authors write Draco as the obsessive one (which he is, but in a different way) who follows Harry around rather than Harry doing it.

Of course depending on how well written the fic is I’m still able to enjoy them in those roles regardless 🤷

for context i mentioned that i totally saw harry going down the stalker to yandere pipeline in 'dark' fics bc of his stalker-like tendencies that apparently only extends to draco

also yeah like stalker/dark draco doesn't hit for me bc like he's just a loser with a crush meanwhile harry's paving a new walk way in the halls mumbling 'i need to see what draco malfoy is doing inside you' (innuendo not implied some how???????!!!) or 'yeah i remember draco looking at things in a shop yearsss go, but i dont remember saving ginny from a giant fucking snake and a part of voldemort's soul that possessed her' or 'yes, i always have to point out where draco malfoy is in the room at all times and whether or not he's leaving or what comes for him in the mail or if his clothes are new... its for the audience' its only subtle bc harry justifies it or quickly glazes over it LMAOOOO

but i digress, i WILL be reading any a fic i come across with one or the other (or BOTH) being mad obsessive esp if the writing is fantastic!

This question is more Curse Child related than Harry Potter related. You’ve stated before that you generally don’t ship Draco with anyone other than Harry, but what about Astoria?

I remember when the Curse Child stage play was first being introduced a small portion of the fandom thought that Draco should’ve married Pansy. Personally, I’m glad he didn’t. No hate, I just never saw them ever having a romantic relationship so I didn’t mind that he “canonically” (I put quotations since the majority of the HP fandom doesn’t consider CC canon) ended up with Astoria even if she wasn’t often mentioned in the original HP series.

So what are your overall thoughts on Drastoria?

i enjoy other draco ships as concepts, but not really as a ship ship (if that makes sense). I personally don't think that draco flourishes in other ships as well as he does in drarry.

concerning astoria, i feel like her character was just there for the conception of scorpius. while i do really like drastoria, i know near nothing about astoria. perhaps thats my fault, but we learn so much more about draco in their relationship than we ever do about astoria. she's sort of blank, kind and open-minded but other than that nothing else is said about her. of course that's just jkr writing women. i would like to know more about her before i start shipping drastoria seriously.

i do like drastoria, as a way to build draco's character and scorpius's background. i think they could be a good ship to ship, if astoria was a more fleshed out character.

i DO NOT ship pansy with anyone but her canon husband blaise. i think the scene in the train where pansy asks blaise about ginny is a cute way to allude to them. i am beyond happy that draco didn't end up with her and instead with a character unknown to harry until the epilogue.

don’t think you’ve ever been asked this (or maybe you had and I just don’t remember) but what made you start liking Drarry? Have you always liked it during the books release? Was it a well-written fic or artwork that brought it to your attention? Or did it just get a hold on you when you decided one day to randomly re-read the series and you noticed all the queer subtext (regardless if it was intentional).

hi anon! 🥰 thanks for asking!! ur gonna probs hate me for this lol but i got into drarry through a tiktok edit. i was never a hp girl (hunger games was where it was at for preteen/teen me --- we hate gale in this house) but i was ALWAYS a draco girlie.

i was strolling thru tiktok one day and for some reason there was a sudden resurgence of hp on my fyp, i got a bunch of draco tiktok and was like 'omg yeah i remember really liking him!' bc i love spoiled brat characters i was like wow these edits are soo good lemme check out more BOOM! drarry everywhere. like where have i been? under a rock? to my normie brain romione was the main take away ship from the movies, i cheered when they got together (i have never seen DH 1 or 2) so i was never in the hp scene bc i thought it was lame and i hate jkr. idk why i've never noticed it before but drarry is peak and goated i love the rivals to lovers the different sides of the same coin trope destiny wands everything leads back to you etc

to this day i've never read all the books and i've never seen all the movies. and that's how i got into drarry!! 🫶💕

well i really like auror partners drarry, professors drarry, down and out draco, stalker/obsessive harry (not necessarily powerful harry, buts ok if he is), meet again in the muggle world drarry (muggle curious draco), soulmates, mpreg (abo is meh, but i dont mind it if mpreg is involved; either of drarry can be preggers), veela draco (or any 'creature' fic where one of them is a magical creature --- werewolf, vampire, etc), eighth year!

that's all i can think of rn 😭 but i feel like there's lots more, if you mention any i just might agree with you!

i'm gonna be real with you, i had to google what 'whump' meant. and i think i prefer fluff. i just like to keep things light and i don't really go into more srs tones that deal with drarry's 'darker' feelings (regret, guilt, shame, etc.) i don't really like making drarry suffer lol soz
