It’s me again- the one who asked the how the skeletons would act with their human friend/SO on their period on the other blog XD I’d like to see the other version as well where they aren’t freaky lol the friend version like you stated

Sans: he definitely wasn’t an expert on human biology when monsters left the underground. The first time sans smells blood on his human buddy he’ll worriedly ask them if they’re hurt. If they just say it’s their period, he nods and pretends like he knows what that is lol. They aren’t freaking out so he figures he doesn’t need to either. He’ll Google it later.

Papyrus: his first time encountering a human on their period was when he crossed paths with a stranger. He worriedly offered the lady medical assistance and she called him a creep. When he smells the same type of blood on his buddy, he’s a lot more cautious about asking if they’re hurt lol. Please be nice and tell him why, he’s gonna think all humans will just bleed at the drop of a hat.

Star: as a member of the peace guard (police force) he had to take courses on basic first aid including ones about how to care for injured humans. The topic of periods came up- aka are they actually in crisis or just going through a normal biological function lol- so he already knows what’s up with his friend. He won’t mention it.

Honey: Star tells honey everything that goes on at his job including all the gross human fun facts he learns. So honey knows what a period is. Unfortunately Star exaggerated and honey thinks his friend is at risk of bleeding out over the week if they don’t eat enough to replenish the blood. His buddy will eventually see a pattern where honey stress bakes them meals every time they’re on their cycle.

Red: he won’t mention the scent of blood, but red is oddly protective of his friend for the day. He assumes they’re healing from an old wound. So in his own way, he’s trying to keep his friend safe as they recover.

Edge: he immediately snaps at his friend to show him where they’re injured the second the scent of blood hits his nose. Edge is mortified when his poor flustered friend tells him what a period is. Any time they’re on their cycle afterwards, he will not so subtly sneak them chocolates that he just happened to have on him. … he might be tracking his friends cycle. Or he just always has chocolate. Who knows lol

Mal: he unfortunately knows what a period is thanks to cash. Mal thanks lady magic every day that he wasn’t born a human. Anyways if his friend shows up smelling like blood, he’s gonna threaten to unfriend them if they bleed on his furniture. Beat him up, he deserves it.

Cash: he’s active on the human side of the internet and found out through memes what periods were. If his friend ever shows up on their cycle, cash will subtly make a bunch of blood puns until they notice.

Oak: he’s distressed every time one of his human friends smell like blood. It takes a lot of reassurances and explaining to get oak to settle down. And he forgets the reason why every new period friend gets, so the cycle repeats :(. If it was a roomate they could give oak a heads up when it starts so he remembers what to expect.

Willow: he knows what a period is (as he has humans working at the bakery). He’s polite enough not to mention it, but he also won’t be very eager to hang around his friend for the next two-three days after. The scent of blood still distresses him even though logically he knows it’s natural.

A few fun facts about triadscog mages?

Triadscog mages are born with at least one of these traits: a third arm on their spine, larger than average ribcage, barklike raised lines on their skin, really thick treelike limbs or unnaturally wide hips.

These mages have poor skills in shapeshifting and illusion magic due to their monster parents magic so we’re often shunned from human communities due to their appearance.

They tend to take after the fertility side of a triadscogs magic and are good with plant based spells.

There are no triadscog mages currently in ebott, but there’s a small population of traidscog halfbreed monsters. It could happen in the future!

Lore about monster dentistry?

Only 3/4ths of monster subspecies have teeth. There are many that directly dissolve food that enters their mouth, or have solid plates for grinding. One monster type will use its tongue like a boa constrictor to squeeze food into a pulp!

The monsters that do have teeth will go through three sets in their childhood. They are born with soft baby teeth, get a harder toddler set then finally loose those to be replaced with an adult set in late childhood.

River monsters, Shyrins, lox, lizardfolk, vegetoids, tsundreplanes, sky serpents and night howlers all constantly loose and regrow teeth over their life like sharks. The average tooth only lasts about two years before being replaced.

Goat monsters, mouslings, gyftrots and goblins have constantly growing teeth. They never loose their adult set. Instead they have to rely on hard foods to grind them down, or go to the dentist every couple of months to have their teeth filed.

Most other monster types will wind up with a further 2-3 sets of teeth as they age. Skeletons loose their first adult set at 150ish and replace them with new teeth the same year.

It takes a while for a knocked out monster tooth to turn to dust. A tooth can keep its form for a few days before crumbling.

Since humans can’t gain LV is that a trait that can be passed onto a halfbreed/mage?

Halfbreeds get LV at a much slower rate than normal monsters. So if you see a halfbreed with a high LV be SCARED.

Mages also can get LV! But you have to be like a serial killer to reach your first level. Mages are also rather resistant to psychological side effects of violence like ptsd.

How do monsters / skeletons self regulate when it comes "normal" body temperature? (When it's too hot or too cold, how does their magic react to keep them at the right temperature?)

What is their average temp anyways?

Skeleton monsters have a pretty wide range of what temperatures they can be comfortable in. A typical skeleton monster can handle degrees of 20F- 130F comfortably without needing protective clothing. When things start getting outside of that range, the ribcage is the main part of the body that needs the most covering.

You also take their temperature from the ribcage. The normal internal temperature should be 70-75 F. If they are at 80F they’re feverish, anything above 85 is an emergency call. Anything below 68 is an indication of malnutrition/emaciation. Anythung below 65 could be ecto failure and needs an emergency call immediately

Skeleton monster bones are great at reflecting outside heat. However they can be overheated through exercise. These monsters regulate their body temperature through sweating through their joints and releasing excess energy through the jaw, ribcage and eyesockets. So basically if your skeleton friend just finished running, you can hold your hand up to their face and feel the heat coming off of their eyes lol.

Are there any exceptions to the rule "all monsters turn to dust upon death"?

Nope! They all turn to dust

Half breed monsters bodies take a bit longer to crumple. A normal monster just poofs away in a cloud of dust as soon as their soul fades. A half breed monsters form will stay the same shape until touched. Then it crumbles like if you’re touching a sandcastle

Ooo, let’s do peaches too then!

Peaches: like rancher he thinks the brownie is a sort of plant bitty. Peaches is a much gentler host than his brother though. He probably winds up befriending the little fairy through leaving out snacks for it. The brownie gets so comfortable that it sometimes follows him around in the orchard.
