Skinpotions Glowdust Review. (Extra, Sizzle, Drama)
Powders have always been a beauty staple for most Filipina women. Due to the heat and humidity of our climate, our skin tends to oil up so bad and patting powder on is one of the quickest way to get rid of it. While I do have very oily skin myself, I have to admit that I’m not a fan of powders - loose, pressed, whatever - it’s just not my thing.
I have many reasons to not like powders but one of the main reasons why I skip it in my daily makeup routine is because I don’t like a matte base. I’m a huge fan of the signature K-Beauty look (dewy, glass skin), so ever since I’ve worn this kind of base in ‘09, I never went back to going matte again. I have lots of acne scars and matte powders make them more horribly apparent so yep, no powders for me. My only excuse in using powders is when I pat some on my T-zone to get rid of the ‘grease’.
However, I’ve been enjoying my Glowdust powders lately from Skinpotions. Just like any finishing powders, this one helps set and seal my foundation but WITHOUT the flat matte finish.
Let me dive into the details more through this review!
You ready to glow? The PR box made me cry glitters of tears!
PACKAGING
Glowdust comes in a traditional powder jar that has a very soft fabric sifter to finely dispense the product. I really love the sifter because it helps coat my powder brush evenly with finer particles.
On the other hand, it doesn’t come with a puff so there’s nothing to halt the powder from getting out. Well, I prefer using a fluffy powder brush to apply it anyway, but I hope it has a stopper so the powder won’t go to waste. However, I think I heard the news that they are working on a much more efficient packaging (news travels fast within the beauty circle kk~).
SWATCHES
Glowdust comes in 3 neutral shades: Extra (Pale Beige), Sizzle (Natural Beige), and Drama (Medium Sand). I use the shade Extra but Sizzle and Drama also work well for me. These powders are very sheer so they’re almost translucent. Shade matching shouldn’t be a problem.
TEXTURE & FINISH
Oh my, this is what I really really want to talk about!! I’m a HUGE HUGE FAN of its creamy texture and pearlescent finish because it’s not like any other powder I have tried before! The texture feels like nothing because it’s that lightweight. If you press some between your fingers, you’ll feel how creamy the formula is. It actually reminds me of the buttery texture of my forever favorite Jeffree Star Skin Frost highlighters.
As for its finish, it really delivers its promise. It makes my skin glow!! And it’s nothing like the glow that highlighters give but a more subtle sheen that looks very natural under any kind of light. It helps bounce light to give the illusion of plumper skin - perfect for hiding my large pores and acne scars!

MY THOUGHTS
See the difference on the left photo? On the other side without Glowdust, you can visibly tell that I have some scarring going on just right beneath my cheekbone. Yeah, it’s not totally matte but it doesn’t deliver the radiance like Glowdust does.
It does not completely mattify the skin but it does the job of eliminating excessive oil. Since the formula is fine and lightweight, it doesn’t cake on my skin despite wearing it the whole day under merciless humidity. But above all these, what really sealed the deal for me is its beautiful pearlescent finish. I love the fact that it’s not overpowering so it still lets me wear highlighter. The radiant finish is very natural-looking so it’s easy to pull off regardless of what type of skin you may have just like me who has acne scarring and enlarged pores. Overall, Skinpotion’s Glowdust is a 5/5 for me. I highly highly recommend it to those looking for an everyday powder!
