y'all remember he attempted to change by jumping out of a plane, right? And they did that shit in the Ed Norton movie. And in the comics. It's almost like... sometimes Bruce doesn't want to change and needs an extra stimulus.

yeah but pushing him off a cliff and robbing him of his own choice and bodily autonomy is totally different from extra stimulus, especially when he expressed that he wanted that control over his own body and that choice

So.  You like torturing your character, do you?  You’re looking for deep plots that don’t have happy endings, to develop your character in deeper, and more meaningful ways than happy relationships and happy endings, right!  Well boy do I have a cat for you!

Yes, it’s this one!  Don’t let the attempt at innocence fool you, that’s part of the charm!  Are you looking for someone who’ll say all the right things to try and convince you she’s truly changed, and she really loves you, only to find her with someone else, or not have her show up at a crucial moment?  Are you looking for a competent business partner who shows all the acumen you’re looking for but gets bored and abandons the project without notice leaving you to pick up the pieces and maybe have to run for your life?  Does your character crave a sense of stability but you want to rip it right out from under them?  Do you- HEY, STOP SNEAKING AROUND THAT HOUSE!

Thievery and Con Artistry

Glow has a prolific and wide ranging list of criminal activities.  She’s been arrested in nearly every village across the width and breadth of Eorzea, and more recently has added places in Doma and the surrounding lands to the list.  A cat burglar and talented con artist, no matter where you’re from she might have stolen from you or conned you out of money!  While she generally doesn’t target the poor, it’s more of a whim based thing than an honor based thing, so technically only people with nothing to steal are ruled out.  You could easily have had something of value stolen from you, or been cheated out of your gil.

The Unreliable Criminal

As she has a skillset often in demand by criminals, Glow has occasionally taken jobs out of interest or boredom.  Some of these jobs go very smoothly and everything is well and good.  Sometimes it’s perhaps more hectic than it needs to be, but she still gets the result.  Sometimes she takes half the payment upfront and then does whatever the hell she wants.  And sometimes she’ll take half the payment and then inform the target who she was hired by and what she was hired to steal and see what happens!  Glow isn’t tied to any morals or sense of duty, and she’s just as likely to break in and then give the stolen bauble to a kid on the street as actually complete the job as intended.  You could be a criminal that hired Glow to do something and she did one of those things.

Ul’dah’s Street Performing Menace

A talented individual, sometimes Glow makes money in a legitimate fashion- tips from street performances!  She can juggle, do fire breathing, acrobatics, dance, sing and generally put on a show!  However, as she is often at odds with the Brass Blades, many a performance has been suddenly interrupted with a raid.  It’s common enough at this point that most people just assume it’s how she wants her shows to end.  Anyone can easily recognize her from one of her shows in Ul’dah, or other performances across Eorzea and now Doma.

A Semi-Reliable Courier

Much like the criminal hook above, except Glow actually is a decent courier.  Occasionally she doesn’t complete the job, but more often than not she actually enjoys the chance to travel and run, and considers getting paid to be a benefit.

Journal Entry #15

That’s not the real number.  I think.  I mean it’s the number I wrote, and it’s a real number, but honestly I don’t know where I’m at.  Both in the numerical sense for ordering this journal, but also in the literal sense!  Unless I’m right behind you, or in the same room as you, watching you read this.  Look, it’s complicated, let’s just move on.

Rebellion is an interesting thing, right?  Not everyone rebels for the same reasons, or about the same things, and some rebellions are large, and other rebellions are tiny, and some are important and others are pedantic, and some have real weight and others change the menu at a popular resturaunt, which could have real weight depending on the popularity of said resturaunt and how heavy the steaks are.  Literalism!

But the point I’m trying to make is that rebellion is important, and it’s important whether it’s succesful or not.  If a rebellion ends, and I mean truly ends, it means one of two main things happened.  Either the rebellion was succesful in creating change, or it was proven that what was being fought for was not necessary or just.  No rebellion truly dies because the “oppressor” won.  It may be quelled, but there is a reason rebellion is analogous to a fire in many forms of literature.  If something is wrong there will always be fuel and the fires will always be burning.  If something is right, then the fuel dries up and the fire stops.

What I’m trying to say is, SET FIRE TO THINGS.

No, wait.  Don’t do that.  That’s bad.  You might burn this journal, or something important.  Uh.  Metaphorically set fire to things?  No no, not that.  FIGURATIVELY SET THINGS ON FIRE!  Yes, appropriate!

Figuratively set fire to things, and see what catches, and what fizzles out.  I can promise you one thing: your life will be more exciting.

Journal Entry #Hey I Found My Journal

You would not believe the amount if dust on this thing. Or maybe you would! You did uncover this from under at least six feet of dirt. Unless you're not the first person to find it. Still, I shouldn't assume. I don't on know what your job is. You might find dusty books all the time! Moving on! You know, ultimately what I do doesn't matter. And I don't mean that in a self-defeating, woe is me kind of way. I just mean the kind of radical social change I believe in will never really come to pass. I am by and far not the only person to think outside of the box, and I do relish the free-thinking ability to challenge social norms, but the question is: what happens when society agrees with me? Vast social changes with an emphasis on free-wheeling ideals and liberal exchange of goods and services is what happens. Immense exposure as the progenitor of a new age, where hundreds of thousands of people will refer to me by the same name. Blegh. I don't want one name, and I definitely don't want a lack of struggle. When everyone thinks the way I think, no conversation will ever truly be finished and I will be bored to tears. I really need the vast majority of the world to stay complacent, and a small minority of power hungry jerks on one end and a bunch of noble and/or violently angry rebels on the other. It's a very good operational standpoint for doing whatever the hell I want.

But it’s okay!  I know people are shy and have anxiety and all that.  I get it.  I understand.  But I’m not going to give up on you!  I assure you I’m friendly, easy to talk to, and want to meet the criminals you’re all proud of.  I’m extremely proud of Glow and what she’s become and I desperately want her to meet all of your criminals!  And they could have been friends, rivals, lovers, or any combination of the three!
