Miranda (1948)

Nice little mermaid comedy, the precursor to things like Splash later on, and I believe the first of the sound era. Could have used a little more action and excitement, as too much of it is set indoors in London, and almost none in the water, but Glynnis Johns is perfect, devastatingly beautiful and unforgettable in the title role.

We are currently observing the advent period of Perpetual Anticipation which culminates with Sondheimas, the birthday of Stephen Sondheim. Today is the sixteenth day of Perpetual Anticipation.

You know what song you're NOT going to hear in Three Wishes for Sondheimas? "Send in the Clowns." You know why? You've heard it enough already. (I mean, unless johnrossbowie shows up to do this.) But here's a rendition worth hearing, from the Tonight Show during the original run of the show, giving you a sense of how Glynnis Johns performed the song in the context of the show.

While writing this post I got an email that referred to Three Wishes for Sondheimas as being "next week," so please excuse me while I go freak out for a minute. While I'm doing that, please buy your tickets.
