If you notice unfamiliar activity in your email account or continuously have trouble logging in, you should take steps to secure it right away, as someone might have hacked your Gmail.
Settings and actions to consider include:
Contacts notifying you that they have received spam from your Gmail account.
Changes to settings such as mail delegation, forwarding, and automatic replies.
Blocked email addresses or filters that you did not set up.
Emails that have been mysteriously deleted.
ü Go to the Google Account Security page and log in if prompted.
ü Click Recent Security Events and check for suspicious activity.
ü Google Security Checkup
ü Click No It Wasn't Me if you see any activity that you did not perform. Follow the steps provided to secure your account.
ü Click Your Devices and click Don't Recognize a Device? if you see any device listed that is not yours and has logged in to your Google account. Follow the steps provided to secure your account.
If you have not gotten messages you were expecting, you are not receiving any new emails at all, or the email messages that were in your inbox have disappeared, check several settings to find out why.
Gmail Messages Are Missing on a Computer
ü Log into your Gmail account and click the down arrow in the Search box.
ü Click the arrow next to All Mail and choose Mail, Spam & Trash.
ü Click Search to see if your missing messages have been deleted, archived or marked as spam. If not, continue troubleshooting.

ü Look for any filters with "Delete It" or "Skip Inbox" listed as the action.
ü Click Edit to change the filter or Delete to delete it. If this does not resolve the issue, check to see if you have forwarding set up in your Gmail account.
ü Click the Forwarding & POP/IMAP tab in Gmail settings.
ü Check to see if a forwarding email address is listed in the Forwarding section. If so, either turn off the setting or select Keep Gmail's Copy in the Inbox or Mark Gmail's Copy as Read.
