GMF 2015 Highlight: Modest Mouse

Gasparilla Music Festival 2015 totally blew my expectations. This music festival is a well oiled machine, run by people and volunteers who truly know what they are doing. I spoke with people who have gone to GMF in years past, saying every year gets bigger and more organized then the last. It seems like the people in charge pay attention and really care about the music and everything else that comes with running a music festival. All the vendors were pretty much local, from the coffee to the beer. My favorite beer of the weekend was definitely from the SweetWater Brewing Company tent. I’ve been apart of a bunch of festivals in the past and GMF has become one of my top favorites. I can’t wait to do it all over again next year in 2016.
The band I was most excited to photograph was Modest Mouse. I’ve been a fan of Modest Mouse for years, and thanks to GMF, I finally got to see them live for the first time. I’m glad the wait lasted until now, because I wasn’t a music photographer until the past two years. Today I’m able to photograph and write about exactly what I experienced at a live show, having these memories put into print or online to have for myself and to share with the world. Modest Mouse’s live performance was incredible and my highlight pick of GMF 2015. Isaac Brock is beast of a musician and performer, so much energy. Saturday was completely sold out at GMF 2015 and I can tell you Modest Mouse was the reason. This is the magic of Modest Mouse, they haven’t released new music in over five years and they are still fresh as ever.
