I feel like I probably would've liked this one better if I hadn't seen BMW before. I liked the themes, but parts of it really felt like rehashing. I really want to see GMW do more of its own unique things and they keep falling back on familiar elements from the old series.
On the two-tier system it's definitely a like though. I was happy to see Turner again and it was fun to see him wreck that principal. I enjoyed that Riley and Maya presented together (it's like a duet.) I liked Riley's line about not needing to hit a kid with a ruler to get them to want to learn. (I'm very against all forms of physical punishment for children because it dismisses their ability to reason. If you don't have the patience to explain it, the patience to keep explaining it in new ways, the patience to break it down into simpler terms, then you should not be a teacher or a parent. /soapbox) And as I've said, I liked the theme of the episode. Thinking about the nature of good and evil is an engaging idea. And I liked seeing that the students cared about both the lesson and the teacher.
All in all I'd say this was a pretty average episode. C, maybe C+. Passable, but not much more than that. It's possible I'll warm up to it as time passes, but that's where I'm at right now.
