this isn't meant to offend anyone, but i don't see the point in stanning visuals alone. i get being drawn to people by their looks, but there are so many contestants who have visuals AND talent ?? i feel bad for some of the contestants who are constantly being ignored despite being insanely talented because of a couple of dudes with nice faces. that's just my take on it. also, some of these visuals people stan don't have much screen time or lack any sort of a personality. seems superficial to me
no offence taken, i do think this discussion is something that comes in kpop often.
but, i mean, if people find happiness as a fan of someone’s visual’s i don’t really see it as a problem as long as their not causing any direct harm to anyone else. we can’t really do anything to change their minds unless they want their minds to be changed.
i also think that yes while most of the guys are attractive and talented, some just don’t seem to draw me in enough for me to stan? it just depends on people’s taste.
as for personality/screen time, i feel like if you have dedicated fans, that can really help you out. haknyeon for example has no screentime at all but has plenty of fanaccs and predebut content that can draw people in. but there are people who stan mainly based on looks… and you can’t really do anything about that.
i personally am not bothered by people stanning visuals, but i do think that to be an idol, while a person’s visuals help catch the audience’s attention, you’d do need skills as well to be a good entertainer and skills can be taught.
there are idols like dongwoon, minho and myungsoo have constantly been shitted on since their debut for being in the group as the token useless member. but throughout the years, they’ve improved themselves immensely and gained the respect of many people. i think a huge motivation for that is the fans support.
that said, i do think there need’s to be a balance in the final top 11. unless they really improve, we really can’t have half the group be Fs that don’t have their skills honed while the other half carries them LOL
