John knows better than to say "in a minute, love." When you ask him to do something.
Before he knows it, you've rearranged half of the living room and are drilling a mount into the wall for the new TV. If he wasn't going to do it, than you would.
John just does what you ask now.
Is angst time.

“Ge?”
Shen Yuan’s voice was quiet—almost a whisper as he squinted up at the figure in front of him, trying to make out if it was really Shen Jiu that he was seeing. His voice was raspy, hoarse from overuse. The bright lights that’d been switched on at some point were quite blinding as Shen Yuan peered up at his brother’s silhouette. The jittery, tense undertone in his voice seemed to melt away slightly—leaving just enough room for a touch of relief to slip into it.
His eyes, which were usually so bright and down to earth were now red rimmed and slightly puffy, no longer protected behind the glasses that he usually donned. Shen Yuan wasn’t normally one for tears. He’d always been rather resilient when it came to crying—always talking about how embarrassed he’d get if he cried.
There was a slight jingling noise as Shen Yuan shifted slightly, the handcuffs that bound him to the radiator in the room making noise as he shifted his position. On his face there was a smear of vibrant red lipstick—clearly applied when he was pulling away. There was a few light hand prints on his chin, bruises in areas where his face had been gripped in attempts to force him to sit still. On his throat, there was a red mark that wrapped around it, as if there’d been something wrapped around his neck and pulled taught.
“Ge..”
Shen Yuan repeated, his voice cracking slightly. He winced—cringing at the voice crack—but Shen Jiu didn’t seem to notice the crack in his voice as he snapped out of whatever daze he’d been in and rushed over. Before Shen Yuan could say anything else he found his head pressed to Shen Jiu’s chest as his brother hugged him tightly.
-—
His brother had been right.
That was the first thing Shen Yuan thought as he stared up at the group of “friends” he’d made. He didn’t know where he was, they’d brought him to an unfamiliar place—a bar or something. One of the guys apparently knew the owner, talking about how SY and the group could hang out in the back and get some free drinks. Shen Yuan didn’t expect to be ambushed by those bastards.
“Yuan-ge,”
One of them said in a sickeningly overly-familiar tone. It was like he was trying to force his voice to sound apologetic. It wasn’t like his way of speech could cover up the mocking smile and malicious glint in those disgusting eyes of his.
“You’re so pretty, just like a girl… Honestly,”
Shen Yuan didn’t want to listen anymore, he took a deep breath and spat directly onto the other’s face—causing the male to pause in what seemed like disbelief.
“Eh?”
The other guys there snickered, watching as the guy who’d just been talking raised a hand to his face, touching the glob of spit on his cheek. His face flushed in anger, his fist clenching before he started laughing.
“So stuck up when you’re like this? Nobody’s coming for you, do you think you’re tough like this? Who are you putting on a show for?”
The guy crouched down close to Shen Yuan, pinching his chin as he got in Shen Yuan’s face. It was obvious that he wasn’t the smartest, because all that did was give Shen Yuan an easier target.
‘Pffth’
Shen Yuan spat in his eye.
-—
“What did they do to you?”
Shen Jiu’s voice was near venomous as he finally released Shen Yuan from the hug, pulling back to reveal his twisted expression. Shen Yuan shook his head, indicating that they hadn’t gotten to do anything irreversible, the commotion that Shen Jiu and whoever he’d come with had happened at the right time—scaring off the group before anything could happen. He was mostly just shaken up, just battered a bit if anything. He’d put up quite the fight—he’d gotten a few good kicks in!
Shen Jiu didn’t get any relief from that revelations—if anything it pissed him off even more. He let out a bark of laughter, one strained with rage. Before he could say anything else he heard Shen Yuan call him quietly.
“I’m sorry…”
Shen Jiu’s anger seemed to pause, an incredulous look settling on his face as he looked at Shen Yuan.
“Pardon?”
“I’m sorry. If I had listened to—”
Shen Jiu cut Shen Yuan off immediately, stopping whatever absurd apology Shen Yuan wanted to say.
“Did you handcuff yourself?”
“..No, but—”
“Did you ask for this?”
“No,”
“Shen Yuan, nothing you could’ve done would’ve warranted this. There is nothing in this world that could justify wha they were trying to do to you.”
“But you told me—even Ah-Fei said that,”
“You’re allowed to listen, you are allowed to feel comfortable around people we don’t like. You’re not to blame for that, and you’re not to blame for what they did. It is not your fault. Okay?”
A pause, as if Shen Yuan was thinking over what Shen Jiu had said.
“Okay,”
There was a brief silence that settled in after that, as if Shen Yuan was trying to figure out what to say next. Fortunately Liu Qingge entered the room with Shen Yuan’s phone in one hand, and the keys to the handcuff in the other. His knuckles were bloody, and there was a tense look on his face as he approached.
Shen Jiu hadn’t called Liu Qingge over himself—he didn’t even have the other’s number saved. It was pure luck that he bumped into Qingge, who was out on a jog, when he got the call from Xiang Fei. Shen Yuan, who’d been on call with Xiang Fei before he and the others headed over to the bar, was lucky that Xiang Fei managed to hear the name of the bar and got super worried when Shen Yuan was suddenly disconnected.

Prompt 19 - Sparkle
@wolfstarmicrofic June 19, word count 470
“Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky. Twinkle, twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are,” Sirius sang to the tiny baby in his arms as he gently rocked her to sleep. But as soon as he stopped singing, Cassie’s little blue eyes opened, her face turned red, and she began screaming again.
“Twinkle, twinkle little star.” Sirius started again, his voice scratching a bit as he began hoarser from singing for so long. “Please, Cassie,” he begged. “Please, baby, Daddy needs to sleep.”
He kept rocking and humming the lullaby, hoping she’d drift off.
“See those stars up there, the ones that sort of make a little W. Those are your stars, my darling; they sparkle just for you.”
Cassie stopped crying and looked up past Sirius’s head as though at the night sky, but she was far too young to be able to see that far away, right?
“And then if we come down and over there, look, that bright star right there, that’s your uncle Regulus. He’s a good listener. If you ever need to talk to someone, come outside, and he’ll listen.” Sirius shifted slightly in the rocking chair as he turned them so they could see his star. “And that one right up there, the brightest star in the sky, that’s me. I will always be there for you, Cassie, even if I drive you insane like I do your Dada, I will always love you because you make me shine just that little bit brighter.”
Cassie’s little mouth opened in a yawn, making a sweet little o. Her eyes fluttered shut, and as her breathing evened out, Sirius slowly got to his feet. “And that one, the one illuminating us and helping us find our way. That’s Dada.” Sirius sighed happily as he looked up at the moon, closing his eyes and letting the moon’s light soak into them.
“Everything okay?” Remus asked as he opened Cassie’s bedroom door, letting in the light from the landing and turning off the enchanted ceiling.
“Astronomy lesson,” Sirius grinned as he stood up and carefully put Cassie into her crib. Remus came up behind him, and they watched her little chest rising and falling as she drifted deeper into sleep.
“Quick, let’s get into bed before she wakes up,” Sirius whispered, gesturing at Remus. They had no sooner turned when a soft little whimper escaped Cassie’s lips. “Oh, sod it,” Sirius grumbled and transformed into Padfoot, curling up on the floor beside the crib. Cassie sighed and fell back to sleep.
“Nighty, night, my darlings,” Remus murmured, closing the door and blocking out the light so that the enchanted ceiling above Cassie’s bed came to life again, reflecting the sky outside.
