semi-cold water splashed at your ankles, whilst a combination of sand and stone softened the soles of your feet. you’d taken your shoes and socks off, choosing to hold them by the back in one of your hands instead. this way, you could dip your feet in the water without worrying about anything getting wet. in the other hand, armin had intertwined the two of your fingers together, threading them together loosely.
the seemingly endless waves crawled up the shore, revealing tops of larger stones below the sand. a light tug on your hand alerted you that armin had stopped walking. your gaze fell on him, as he had turned his toward the massive, unknown pool of water, and you knew he wanted to study it. you both dreamed of the day your worlds could once again expand when hange and the rest of your team search the deep blue ocean.
but, for now, you knew this was enough.
all thoughts lost, you quickly found yourself enamoured with armin's angelic stature. his longer, golden hair which you knew would be silky soft if your fingers were to reach out and touch it. his hair, that you loved to braid and curl. his hair, that always stuck out in all possible ways when his bedheaded figure would stand in the doorframe at 3 am, when reality haunted his beautiful mind and cursed his nights. his brilliant mind that would keep you, mikasa and eren up for countless nights just to shock you all over again at its intelligence.
you knew his gaze had turned back to you by now, but you didn't particularly care too much. he knew you found him handsome, so who were you to hide it?
turning away, he looked toward the elder trees rooted at the start of the beach, obviously contemplating the best place to rest. finally, he approached a specific tree, and let the heavy book bag slide down his shoulder and land on the soft sand.
the tree trunk was broad. in fact, you would bet that the tree had been around for longer than the entirety of the human race. armin had seated himself against the old tree, as he patiently waited for you to join him. you smiled, plopping down next to him, and immediately rested your head on his shoulder.
he returned your smile and fished a book out of the bag. oh, how you enjoyed these days of bliss with armin. you only wish that it wouldn't be but a dream.
